Organic/non-toxic mattresses???

Help! I am overwhelmed with figuring out the best place/resource for organic/non-toxic mattresses for my kids! I'm a bit wary of buying on-line since it seems like we'd want to try them out before we purchase. The only ones I've found in a store are the Ikea Heidal mattress and their natural latex mattress but wonder if their "natural" labeling is truly natural. Any suggestions on where to look or great deals with on-line stores? Advice, reviews, suggestions would be most helpful! While price is certainly a priority, I also want to get mattresses the kids can happily and comfortably use for years to come.

the ikea ones are natural, but we purchased ours through The Organic Mattress Store in Hellertown PA. i actually went to the store and it was great. they care about and know their product well.

when we moved to NZ, we left that mattress behind. here, we bought an Oko Oko organic mattress. It's excellent as well, and about the same price as the OMS one.

i would recommend the organic mattress store--and i think you can order fr0m a distance.

Organic Grace is my go to place for info on green mattresses. The owner is an MDC member and she's great about answering questions.

Without knowing where you are though, we can't really recommend someplace local for you.

We bought DS's crib mattress from http://daxstores.com. ( I probably screwed up the link; it's www.daxstores.com) Free shipping and a very reasonable price! I looked there for a mattress for DH and I but the prices and lack of free shipping on the big mattresses mean we'll probably end up with an IKEA mattress. I actually found this thread searching for threads regarding the "naturalness" of IKEA mattresses.

Thanks, everyone! We're in MD so the PA store could be do-able and I've also looked at the other stores. So many great options. Now to just make the decision!
