Dd's poor lil' noggin-- how much can it take, really??

Dd started crawling about a month ago, and has been getting faster and bolder by the day. She's cruising and pulls herself up to standing on everything, and now likes to let go and see how long she can stand up...

So of course she's falling down A LOT. Which is part and parcel, I know. But she must have hit her head -- I mean really whacked it -- at least 7 times b/n yesterday and today alone. She cries for a minute and then is at it again but I'm so stressed out that she's getting hurt. I just don't know how many falls like that are too many. I am being as vigilant as I can, but there's always that split second when I can't catch her fast enough...

Am I being paranoid or should I be concerned?

My DD was the same way when she was first becoming mobile. I worried as well, but now she is a pro at falling. She has learned to fall on her bum. I'm sure we will be in for it again when she actually starts taking un-supported steps though.

I think it's normal... we must have evolved hard heads because of how often babies bump them when they get mobile

As long as, like you describe, the crying is only for a minute and easily fixed by a quick cuddle or nurse, I don't worry about it.

Keep aware for signs of head injury (check out "When to Worry" in this article http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T082300.asp ), but keep in mind that you probably knocked your head around pretty bad too when you were getting mobile. My mom says my older sister (who walked early) was slamming her head into things hourly for like a year.

My daughter did this too when cruising, I thought she would get brain damage the amount of times she fell over and wacked her head in a day. I could never catch her in that split second. She's almost 3 now and perfectly fine and very bright!
