He was diagnosed with croup on April 8 his cough totally relaxed and then his friend Jozlin had this really bad sounding cough last week right around tues, wed and then she told brendan when she was heading to the bus with him that she threw up from coughing so hard on wed nite (which she said last nite ) so then she missed school on Friday .

Her cough isn't around and she said her doctor has her take some pink medicine .

So then Brendan was only coughing really hectic April 7 and april 8 until he got some of this steriod medicine it made his coughing sound better and not as continous then last week it was seemingly as if it was fully gone.

Now, this week his cough is returning so I had the school nurse check him out No fever, no ear issues , she listened to his chest said it was all clear .

So then when he was playing with the kids outside yesterday he wasn't coughing at all and the teacher said he wasn't coughing in the classroom.

Now today and tonight he's coughing all the time but he's still active want to go ride his bike continously, scooter ride, play basketball .

So I tell him to relax but he want to go out and then after all that exericise he's coughing again.

His grandma said he was coughing all the time with her sounded like a dry productive cough .

Now tonight he is coughing that has the little whistle , along with the gag reflex and near throw ups with it .

When he had his croup he had his throat checked for strep for both rapid and lab and it was negative.

Is he wheezing?

We had my son at the Ped on Friday, he is wheezing and they did a breathing treatment. We came home with an inhaler. The Ped said it is possible he has Asthma. Especially with all the allergens around right now. He has seen alot of kids wheezing in the last two weeks that have no history of Asthma.

Have him tested for asthma. More and more kids are developing it. It's especially likely if that bout of croup he had was associated with RSV.

Yesterday when the school nurse checked his lungs said they were all clear and then today when he saw a doctor who I don't really trust said his lungs did sound like he was having a little wheezing sound in his lungs and his cough is actually better today after he lost his tooth . He wasn't even coughing at all when he woke up , or at the doctors office so then it confuses me completely because last nite he was coughing so bad that he was crying now he's not even coughing so then the doctor wanted to prescribe an inhaler that's flovent and antibiotics . Flovent inhaler I saw many parents write so many horror stories online of their side effects. So there is no way I'm going to end up giving my son that inhaler which we haven't got yet .

So my son says he breathes just fine his lips are pink and he's active to want to run around like a maniac .

Does he cough during the night?

yep he coughs during the night and I was asking Brendan friend mom about her daughter recent coughing symptoms since her daughter was seemingly better quickly after she missed one day of school so I was like Brendan developed this cough and then his doctor who he saw said it sounded liike he was having a wheezing sound so I said did she have that too & no fever . She goes yep sounds just like what her daughter had and was put on z-pack and it really helped her get better quick her doctor diagnosed her with bronchitis . So it sounds like he proably has bronchitis because his symptoms are right to the tee of her daughters . She was also shocked that the doctor wanted to prescribe brendan an inhaler so then I asked brendan if that antibiotic helped him feel better he said Yes Mommy it really helped me feel better so I am like boy am I glad I pushed on the antibiotic thing because the doctor just wanted to only put him on an inhaler .

Are you open to trying alternative medicine for him?

It does sound like asthma to me, but if you are very opposed to using inhalers (which is totally understandable) you could always try finding a good classical homeopath. It would be especially likely to work quickly now because he only recently developed symptoms, and he's not on daily suppressive medications which can make it harder to get remedies to work.

his coughing is better last night he slept through the whole nite without coughing and this morning he got some green yellow mucus up that nearly made him choke it was also out of his nose too.

So then since he got home from school he's only coughed a few times definetly not much as he has been.

We do end up having a homeopath nearby so how do they help with asthma like symptoms ?

I'm having him tested may 18 for allergy test so do blood work work better for telling allergies ?

Homeopathic remedies work helping fix the underlying imbalances that cause health problems.

How is he being tested? The scratch test? That test is not very sensitive. It can pick up some of the worst allergies, but not everything. My son had that done and the only allergy they found was to cats. But he seems to be allergic to all kinds of things. The RAST blood test is more sensitive, but many allergists don't like to use it because they feel that it has too high a rate of false positives.

If you want more info on allergies, go on over to the allergy forum. There are lots of very knowledgeable people over there.
