babies like beans but do beans like babies?

we're talking solids again. i know your babes love to eat all types of beans and b/c i've heard about your babes loving beans i tried them with my 7 mo and she loves them too. and i love that she loves them.

have any of you noticed any negative effects, beans being the "magic fruit?" any gas, discomfort? and is there anything i can do to minimize it?

i'm not sure with my babe. any fussiness could also be teething, fatigue...there's nothing totally obvious.

The best way to minimize gassy discomfort from beans is to soak them well, discard the soaking water, and cook them in new water.

Canned beans differ by the brand, as to how well they've been soaked. If you find a particular brand makes baby gassy, just try another brand.

Most people who are bothered by beans are people who rarely eat them, and then try eating a while bunch at one time. If you eat them more often, usually the problem will subside as your gut gets used to them. You can also help ease the digestion of high-fiber foods (like beans) by serving them alongside something that has plenty of healthy fats-- like olive oil, for example, or avocado, or cheese.

FWIW, keep in mind too that some amount of gas and tooting is normal and healthy and nothing to worry about. And babies that age fuss for dozens of different reasons, so you can't assume it's the gas.

Mine all ate beans from about seven months on, and we eat them at least four times a week here. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

yeah, the thing is that I was feeling them so i can only imagine she might be. i mainly wonder b/c i ended up cutting her off last night from the beans fearing discomfort at sleep time although i'd love if she ate all she wanted from them.
we mainly use canned. will rinsing again help?

We usually use canned beans too and I haven't noticed any discomfort or fussiness from DS. I *did* notice, however, that when he first started eating them, he had a lot more gas...it just never really made him uncomfortable enough to fuss about it, I guess.
