Advice for healthy "eating" while on clear liquid diet?

Thread Starter
I'm having some digestive issues, and my doctor has recommended I spend the next few days on a clear liquid diet. No fat, no solids (unless you count gelatin). I've basically been living on sugar water, and I don't know if I feel lousy because of the underlying problems, or the fact that I've only had sugar water and bouillon for the last couple days.

Does anyone out there have any ideas of something I could be taking in that would actually have some nutrition?

Thanks for any ideas!

chicken or beef broth?

Does it have to be clear liquids or could it be something like a smoothie?

I would make a huge batch of chicken bone stock, with a lot of veggies in it, and sip on that.

No smoothies. If you can't (theoretically) read the newspaper through it, it's not considered clear.

I agree w. making the chicken broth w. bones. You will get much-needed protein. You can also add liquid egg whites to clear juice for protein.

If you want a change b/c you're going "stir crazy" you can freeze juice into posicles, but I'd say at this point, your body sounds desperate for more protein and less sugar.

Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

Coconut juice has a lot of potassium in it and is good for electrolyte balance so you might want to add a little of that too.
