DTaP for 7 year old?

I plan to get my recently-turned-7-year-old the DTaP booster.

She had the first three doses on the AAP-recommended schedule as an infant.

However, the package insert says it's only recommended for kids up to age 6.

Can she get it anyway? If not, what can/should she get instead?

I personally wouldn't worry about it. Diptheria and Tetnaus are not around in any type of significant numbers and Pertussis is really only dangerous in the very young (>6 months) The reason they have older kids get vaccinated is to protect others from transmission. But the vaccine doesn't protect others from transmission so I guess I don't really see the point.

well I personally wouldn't bother either and agree with PP.
this is for age 10 and over

You could also have titers checked before vaccinating against something she might still have immunity for.

Good idea. I will ask her doc about that.
