Got my IgE results today...

Background, I have been having popping in my ears for a couple of years and I was tired of it. So I went to Doctor a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, he says it's allergies causing it. So they did the skin prick test in the office. Showed I am allergic to a bunch of molds. They also took 3 tubes of blood to do an IgE test. I got the results today.

Anyhow, this Doctor (who is NOT an Allergist) wants me to start SLIT (Sublingual Immunotherapy). I signed the forms, but I am really hesitant. For some reason this Doctor makes me uneasy.

I did some reading tonight and there is SLIT and then there is SCIT. Has anyone done either of these? Has it helped?

With SLIT I will even need an epi-pen. Not sure if I will if I did SCIT or not.

My results ranged from negative to IV which was 2.50-12.50. Most (alot of trees, weeds, grass) was in the II .15-.50 and III .5-2.50.

I think I would feel better with an Allergist. Sigh...

I don't know about SLIT or SCIT. I was allergic to 3 or 4 kinds of mold (sinus infections/bronchitis multiple times a year) and got allergy shots for 5 years (they kept me on Claritin and prescription nosedrops all that time). It helped for about 6-7 years (maybe 4 without any meds), then the allergies came back with a vengeance. I don't know if the 5 years of shots were worth it or not. But that's my experience with "immunotherapy".
