I've been having some trouble with my 8yo ds. We've managed to get into some negative moods where we feed off one another, but I've been working on that. I think things are getting better. Part of the problem is that he likes to be active and busy, and I have my own limits. He's now in music class once a week and archery every other week. He got very upset around Passover time when the girls were home from school and our time was very unstructured. We're getting busy again now.
A constant theme for the past month or so is that DS has gotten it into his head that he wants to go to public school next year. I'm very hesitant about this. When I ask him for specifics, he tells me that he misses riding the school bus daily and having recess. He also misses homework, and he's EXTREMELY upset that I make him do his music homework every day.
(Which does he want, more homework or less??)
I want to do what's best for him, but I'm not quite sure what that is anymore. Is he just going through normal boredom/grass is greener feelings, and his desires to go to public school are shallow and should be dismissed? Or is he telling me that he's bored and understimulated at home, but he doesn't quite have the words to say that directly?
