Connor has a new owie :(

Do you guys remember when Connor got stitches in November? He sliced his eye LID (not brow) open and got 10 stitches. It was pretty horrible, and at the time he was getting over pneumonia secondary to H1N1, so he couldn't be sedated.

Well, he did it again...not stitches this time, possibly a broken thumb Last night the van door closed on him, latched shut and everything. It's an automatic door, and is supposed to have a safety on it to prevent things like this. This is the second time it has closed him into the door, the first time we took it straight to the dealer to have them adjust the resistance on it. Last night I had to run over to him to open the door because it had latched shut with his hand in there. There was a deep "dent" in his thumb, and within a half hour it had swelled so much that his skin was shiny looking. I called Toyota corporate right away to report it.

He was still using it last night, so I decided to wait and see. Well this morning it's more swollen and he won't use it or let us touch it Oh, he also woke up with a snotty nose, bad cough, and fever. So we're headed to the dr at noon.

Uugh! Poor baby, makes my hand and heart hurt thinking about it. I hope it feels better soon. If it is not broken, after a day or so of icing, an epsom salt soak might help.

Well, his thumb isn't broken, although it does look bad. BUT, I asked the dr to look him over since he's getting a cold, and he has strep!!! WTF? He's not that sick!!!

My kids had strep and non of them were really sick either.

I swear it runs the halls of our schools at times...and then gets the family.

Hope he feels better soon.

Maybe this is one of those blessings in disguise. You'd have not figured out about the strep so soon if you hadn't taken him in for his thumb.

Maybe, because he did get sicker last night. He started looking pretty rough in the evening, then had a rough night trying to sleep. Poor guy

But definitely yesterday at noon he was not what I would consider to be sick enough to warrant a trip to the dr. So I guess we just caught it really early.

Actually, it's a really good thing your son was diagnosed now. My friend's child had strep and never showed any signs until he started complaining his chest hurt. He has heart damage from undetected strep.

Poor thing - I hope he's on the mend soon.
