I am using prefold fitteds this time and love them. I had mine made by Tinkle Traps. She converts prefolds and will add doublers topped with whatever you like. I snappi them and they are so nice! I always reach for them first.

Oh, I trifolded prefolds with my middle child and that worked really well for him, especially once on solids.

I tried prefolds with ds (we didn't start until he was an older baby) and just couldn't get a good fit. He was also mobile and just too wiggly for me to take the time to figure out a good fit with them!

So we used fitteds/wool and pockets/AIOs.

I'm building a stash for our new one and I'm going to try prefolds again. But I'm also buying fitteds and pockets/AIOs because I know I like them.

I would buy whatever is working well for you and not worry about it.

I was not a huge fan of my prefolds at first..........I didn't like the trifold and I couldn't get the other folds right. I watched a whole bunch of youtube videos and perfected my technique and now I love them! I used them lots with Mya and got a bunch for this new baby too.

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to change her promptly and its usually 1 hr between changes, unless she's sleeping. When I've tried prefolds, it has been with a thirsties cover and a microfleece insert. I know there are cheaper options, but thats what came in my cloth diaper trial kit.

I think maybe I'm worrying too much about being like other CD moms. Its not as much a money thing (Luckily I can afford pockets...I budgeted for LC and CDs and breastfeeding is going great so there's extra for CDs), but more my obsessive planning side wanting to plan wisely. And I guess maybe part of me worries that I'm not as good at CDing as other mamas since I'm not enjoying prefolds. (I know this is stupid, but it does seem like the die-hard natural mamas use prefolds and wool and wouldn't put a BG pocket on their kid).

I keep hearing about stink problems (I haven't had these, although I wash almost every day) and velcro problems (I anticipate these) and I worry that even though its going well now, it might not be great later...but ultimately I want to stick with Clothdiapering and when I use pockets I feel excited about it and when I use prefolds I feel tempted to give up, so maybe I just need to not worry about prefolds?

I definitely think you shouldn't worry about prefolds if you just don't like them Its like anything else, do what is best for YOUR family. If you like pockets, then I vote you use pockets.. maybe you'll eventually like prefolds and maybe you'll end up only wanting AIOs... either way you are weighing what is best for your baby and for you

I can't have just prefolds in the house anyway.. My husband refuses to use them hahaha

Now, there's a bit of a learning curve, but I get/got (we only diaper for naps and nighttime nowadays) a MUCH MUCH MUCH better fit with pins.
