Well my little guy is almost 5 months, since he showed up at the 3rd of December. Regardless he's growing so fast!!! I pulled out my 12 month clothes and he fits them! Well a lot of them anyway.

He also just had his first two teeth break through, I can't see them too well but I can feel them. So far teething hasn't been too bad. Just a few weeks of lots of night time feedings.

Just got the little guy an exersaucer, $10 at a resale! I never had one with ds 1, but it has been so nice to let him sit up and play, while I make his brother lunch, cook dinner, etc. I have to remind myself to pick him up more because he's so happy in their. Such a difference from his brother!

Love getting out more hiking and taking ds 1 to the park with all this great weather. Although we woke up to snow this morning!

Glenn is loving all his toys he is so happy and carefree!!!! He loves his exersaucer he LOVES watching our cats it is so cute and the cats actually let him pet them they lay near him they also rub and nudge him he is a smiley little man he does real belly laughs he is a mama's boy there are lots of times when he just wants me and not to be selfish I love it it warms my heart (Ds1 was the same way and still is!) He is sitting so well!!!! he is not crawling but he gets around by rolling and using his arms to turn his body. He easily falls asleep and sleeps pretty well at night about 3 to 4 hours at a time of course he also has days that he will not sleep so good but we co sleep so they are few and far between. we have an arms reach co sleeper and he uses that every night for at least a couple hours he is wanting to be a thumb sucker I am trying to avoid that but it is not working. He has a lovey and it is way to cute!!! he really does love it

DS is definitely a thumb sucker! DH's grandma tried to snatch it out of his mouth "oh you don't want that!" and I had to tell her it is ok; I don't mind him sucking his thumb - she looked at me really skeptical, because she thinks thumb-sucking leads to big lips and I honestly don't mind - it helps him self soothe. He will also take a paci if he has to (very rare - only a couple times a week now) but prefers his thumb.

He isn't sitting on his own yet, but he tries! same with crawling, he scoots with his legs and pulls on the quilt I use for floor time to try and go somewhere. otherwise he just turns himself in circles.

we also have the arms reach co-sleeper - DS goes to sleep (or is put in there asleep I should say) and sleeps until usually 5-6 in the morning, then I nurse him in bed and we stay asleep until it is time to get up. He's been waking before me lately - my little alarm clock! - at least he is happy about it - he woke at 7 between DH and I, just babbling away

I really probably should start some solids . . . he is so interested in food and it feels mean to withhold them. Problem is most of the food on my plate is not ok for him (steak, pizza, yeah, we are eating super healthy these days!) need to work on that!

My little guy will be 6 mo tomorrow. I can't believe how fast he's growing up! He got his first tooth the other day. He's been teething forever, so I'm glad they're finally breaking through. On the other had, I had been letting him chew on my finger to soothe his gums, but now that he has a tooth in there it hurts. I'm now waiting for and dreading the first time he bites while nursing.

He's now sitting on his own, which he just kinda figured out how to do one day a couple weeks ago. A lot of his development seems to be instantaneous like a light switch gets flipped in his brain. He just figured out that he can make his toys rattle or jingle. So now he tries to shake everything to see if it makes a noise. Today he grabbed my finger and shook it to see if it makes a noise. So cute!

He's turned into quite the little flirt when we're out and about. He likes to smile and make cute faces at the ladies. I have no idea where he gets this from! He's a funny little boy!

Our little guy just started sitting up by himself the past two weeks. No teeth yet but I swear there's one about to pop through. I had wanted to wait until 6 months to start solid but we started them last week. He was just definitely ready. He loves avocados, especially getting them in his hair.

He's just all over his crib when he sleeps. He gets up 2-3 times to eat and I'm getting a little tired of everyone telling me he should be sleeping through the night. To be honest, it kills me to have to work and leave him so I really don't mind getting up a few times with him, I love the time together.

He has a bouncer and he just loves that thing. It's not unusual for him to spend 45 minutes just bouncing. He'd fall alseep in that thing if we let him.

And he's also a little flirt. Daddy and him go to get coffee and he flirts with the ladies at the counter. I had to tell hubby to stop using our son to pick up chicks.

Fun to read all the updates!

My LO is not sitting up yet, but is close. He's like a sack of potatoes, I should just be able to prop him up, he's so round!

We're in no rush to start solids. I'm just loving nursing him. He is our second and final baby, so I'm enjoying each stage and in no hurry to move him along to the next. I already look at my 3 year old and wonder where that baby went! I started him on rice cereal mixed with BM, so that's probably what I'll do with this little guy, eventually...

I'm bummed that I'm not getting much babywearing in. My back has been bothering me, so it's put a damper on the bw-ing. Gotta get to the chiro and have it straightened out, as like the nursing, my bw-ing days are numbered.

His hair is starting to come in and is it vain that I love how people say he looks like me? Finally! Everyone and their dog said that DS1 looked just like his dad. It's nice that people see me in DS2, I love it. His baby hair is like cotton candy...I hope in 20 years I never forget how sweet it is to kiss his soft head.

And no teeth here yet, but I imagine it will happen soon. He chews ferociously on my thumb, not so interested in the teethers. He's already bitten me a few times while nursing. Owie!

My Zi is talking up a storm these days! Ba, Ma, Va, and Da and variations of these are all in her vocabulary. I love it.

She is working on sitting up; she can balance for maybe 20 seconds if she feels like it.

Working in her 3-4 teeth too, but I'm not sure if I can feel them or if I'm imagining things.

with a boppy pillow around him, DS can sit for a while. He can tripod sit for maybe a minute, if something has his attention. He babbles all the time - usually I wake up to him babbling!

I don't want to rush things, but he is just so interested in food! I'd feel so mean to withhold it from him. Things he tried this weekend: french fries (I know - totally not healthy, but they are easy for him to grab and he likes to gum them) carrot sticks, celery sticks (we were at a wing place), and crust of bread with bit of jam. I finally broke down and bought some biting biscuits (couldn't find rice husks, maybe EarthFare -like whole foods - would have some?) so I could give him a little something when I haven't anything on my plate I can share with him.

I am just waiting for these teeth to pop through - He has at least one trying to come in. He has been more fussy and has had runnier poop for DAYS. (anything I can give or feed him to make them less runny?)

and I bought sunscreen! he had his first baseball game this weekend and got a little color - not sunburned - so I thought I should get some. WaterBabies makes a pure and simple version. It was slightly cheaper than Neutragena, which was also low on additives. Why is sunscreen so expensive?

Looking forward to my first Mother's Day! (well, I celebrated last year, but it is different now that DS is here!)

My little guy is our second and last one too and so I know what you mean about cherishing every stage! I was so antsy to see what ds 1 would do next, but I'm enjoying each moment and appreciating NOT having to prepare him food.

My Jude looks like me unlike my first as well. I don't think it's vain (ok maybe a little). But it's nice to hear how you LO looks just like mama.

I don't use sunscreen on them at this age. I just make sure to cover them up and use a nice wide rimmed sun hat. They have some cute hats out there that are SPF 30+ and 50+.

I agree sunscreen is expensive! I use the Alba Botanica for children, not as natural as some, but the most natural I can find on my budget. Seems to go on sale more than some others.

he was wearing a hat, I just need to keep it in the diaper bag. It is too hot to dress him in long pants and long sleeves (which he would chew on anyway), therefore the sunscreen - and we will be in pools hopefully nearly every weekend soon, and will defo be needed then. I have not seen that brand of sunscreen . . .hmm

DS was fussy last night, i am hoping this tooth pops through soon. He crashed at 8, nursed at 11 (a dream feed) woke up at 11:30 for more, at some point he came to bed because he was fussing. put him back in the co-sleeper after that (sometimes he sleeps better in his own space), woke up at 4 to eat, back to sleep, and up again by 7. rough night for us; he usually goes down at 9 or 10 and is down for the count until around 4 or 5, sometimes as late as 6. hoping he has a good day today!

Hello guys!

DS is doing great. He's avg height and weight, but I suspect this will change once he starts solids (like DD)- we are not avg size people (both tall, large frame). He's still nursing around the clock, every 2-3 hours. He was diagnosed with significant oral motor weaknesses at 2 months, which have improved some, but still limit his nursing session because of fatigue. So we nurse more often than other BF babies this age, but we're making it work.

He's rolling occassionally, pushing up his butt when on his stomach, scooting around in circles, and sits pretty well unassisted. He LOVES his full-time babysitter DD. She's quite protective and is a great set of second eyes.

I can't believe six months has gone by so quickly. I have tried to hard to hang on to every second and cherish it like pure gold, and it still is going too fast.

My little Annabelle is so precious. She has got the sweetest temperament I've ever seen in a baby (I'm biased, I know). She loves to cuddle with me.

She sits up. She rolls from back to front and to back again. She's quiet, so I haven't heard a lot of pre-verbal noises, just a few "aba ba ba!" here or there. No teeth yet, surprisingly enough (my son had two at four months!), but her bottom gums are swollen with tooth buds. Soon, I'll bet.

I've reluctantly started some solid food experimentation (though I had initially wanted to wait). I keep it down to a few bites/licks once a day or less, but boy that baby loves food. I try to take her up with nursing first so that her belly is nice a full before hand, and then we nurse again right after.

her big brother is completely smitten by her, too.

We are doing the same, just a few bites or licks of what might be appropriate on our plates. I think we'll try some melon this weekend.

DS sat in a restaurant highchair for the first time last night! he gets impatient with the bucket seat (who can blame him?) because he can't sit up and see. and I was eating steak, which is super hard to cut up when i have him on my lap, so we gave it a go, and he did AWESOME! wanted to chew on the tablecloth, but oh well.

he still is a bit wobbly on the floor sitting, but he's getting there!

I know what you mean, I think baby G has an awesome temperment, and he is starting to really cuddle (when they are newborns they are just mush, they don't really hug or cling so much) it is just too sweet! makes me think that he will end up with a baby brother or sister sooner than we intended - well that and our rather sporadic use of BC

anyone have any special mother's day plans?

I have a baby gone WILD

Havent been on a lot, because I've been trying my best to keep up with Xavian! OMG I dont know whats into him. Previously he was a super calm and mellow baby. Over the last week or so, he is so crazy hyper! He is not upset or grumpy about it, he is still really happy and smiley, but WOW its taking a lot of my energy and time. I feel more EXHAUSTED than when he was a newborn.

He is babbling and screeching non-stop, and squirming and twisting and rolling! Even when we nurse, he isnt into cuddling and relaxing anymore, he has to me waving his hands around, grabbing at me, kicking his feet, bouncing his butt LOL. He breaks off from nursing to talk talk talk! Then kick squirm, nurse, talk, kick, arch, bounce, etc.

He hasnt figured out how to crawl on a flat floor, but he can crawl OVER something (like a lap LOL!) And he's figured out how to scoot himself in clockwise circles, which he does constantly.

Is ANYONE ELSE going through this?? Is this some kind of 6 mo stage?! Its super cute and fun, but oh I really feel like I need a break... just like one day of cuddles and naps!

We havent given him any solids yet, seems like its going well for everyone else though? He seems interested, and reaches for stuff sometimes, but for some reason I'm just not ready to let him have anything!

Oh I did manage to finish something though!! My first knitting project, I made a wool soaker for Xavi. Its not perfect, but it works pretty good, we've been using it at nighttime.

Thought we needed a bump XavisMom - what is a soaker? Is that something you use in IPT? We are unfortunately just starting to work on that - I gave him 1 pottunity before he turned 6 months but overall I think we missed out on getting him used to it before the 6 month mark.

I'm also looking into amber necklaces - did anyone find one that they love? And what exactly is behind the amber helping with pain- does it increase circulation?

And on a side note, my sister's 3 yo is scheduled to have a colonoscopy next Wednesday - she's been having constipation issues since she was apprx. 8 months. They drew blood already and didn't find anything in the tests they did on the blood. She does eat fruits and veggies - not as much water as she should be getting but not so little that it she should be as constipated as she is. I'm going to post on another forum as well but just wanted to see if any of you ladies have been through anything like this or heard of anything non-surgical that helped. Thanks!

Julie

A soaker is just a cover for a prefold diaper, the bonus of using wool, is you only have to wash it every 1-2 weeks or so We use pocket diapers during the day, but he supersoaks his diapers at night, and we co-sleep and nurse on demand all night, which means he is also a side-sleeper, and if I let him sleep in his pockets, we both wake up soaking wet!! At night I put him in a prefold with a microfiber insert for extra absorbancy, and a soaker. They work so great. Fleece works good too, but you have to wash it more often.

Xavi and I have matching amber necklaces, I love them. I know my neck feels much better since I got mine, it was killing me with all the hunching over and nursing. I do notice a difference in Xavian when we forget to put his back on after a bath. Its not a 100% cure all, but it makes a difference I think. We bought ours from Amber Artesians, and I think they are well made, I feel ok with him wearing it 24 hrs a day. Took forEVER to get them though, bc they ship from Lithuania.

The idea behind the amber, is when its warm (against your skin) it releases natural oils that give natural pain relief. So as you wear it all day, your skin absorbs it.

Hope your niece is ok!! I dont know anything about that, but I hope something works out for her!

Xavi is like a rollercoaster right now. He had a HORRIBLE day on monday, yesterday was awesome, and today is looking to be another bad one. Poor little guy.
