Did I have a chemical pregnancy?

Hi Ladies!

I'm just wondering if anyone might have any insight about this. I'm not normally one to jump to such conclusions, but I can't shake the feeling that I may have had a chemical this month.

Reasons why:

1) AF was 5 days late, though I spotted lightly on and off for the last 3 days of it being late.
2) I felt a lot of pregnancy symptoms this month.
3) I have had AF since age 10 (I'm 34) and she is never, ever, ever late. The only time she was late was when I was pg. for 9 wks. (miscarried)
4) This AF seems particularly heavy, crampy, and clotty.

Reasons why not:

1) I never got a BFP.

We have been TTC for almost a year and of course I took this month off from charting.

Any thoughts? I know there is no way to know for sure, but I could use some help figuring this out!

TIA!

Did you not get a BFP because you weren't testing, or were you testing all along and getting only BFNs?

If you weren't testing, or waited a long time to test, then you could have missed a BFP and only gotten a BFN when the pregnancy was no longer viable. Of course if you were testing a lot, and only getting BFN's then the pp is probably correct about chemical pregnancy being unlikely in that case.

Unless you were testing a lot, I'd be inclined to trust your intuition/symptoms on this one.

One more thing to consider--was there anything else going on in your life that might have messed up your cycle? Health issues or stress?

Thanks for your responses! I did test quite a few times, though not every single day. I had 2 negative Clearblue, a false positive Clearblue*, a digital Clearblue that didn't work at all, and then two negative FRERs. I do have chronic health issues and anxiety, but nothing unusual from how things always are .

I guess I just wasn't sure if you could have a chemical without a BFP. It's just so weird because like I said, 24 years of AF and she's always the same. Maybe my cycle is just changing. I guess all I can do is keep an eye on things and tell my NMW about it at my next appt.

Thanks again!

*false positive Clearblue
(it was exactly as described here: http://www.peeonastick.com/issues.html)
