i guess this'll do for a diagnosis...for now

Since we never did catch a seizure on the EEG and the MRI is normal, Timothy's neurologist is going with "benign myoclonus" and hypotonia. We're most likely going to get a 24-hour video EEG this summer when the boys & dh are out of school. We may also start PT/OT for the muscle tone.

I'm glad that the MRI is normal, but it kind of puts us back at square one and not really knowing the underlying cause of all Timothy's spasms.

He still has reflux as well and even though he's 12 months, he spits up pureed foods several times a day. He's not on meds for it.

The neuro said that if things change over the next few months we'll look into other testing but for now it's "wait & see".

Have you considered seeing a geneticist?

I mentioned genetic testing, but the neuro kind of brushed it off saying that with the absence of other symptoms, we really wouldn't be able to "narrow it down". Whatever that means.

I think I'm going to look into it anyway.

How about GI? They may be able to get a treatment going for the reflux.

Yeah definitely GI if you haven't been. A toddler spitting up purees could mean something structural (esophageal stricture maybe? dismotility?)

We had a button battery incident a few months ago now and have had two barium swallows. There were no strictures at that point. Timothy's pediatrician definitely wants to treat the reflux if he doesn't improve in a few months. We got a rather late start on solids anyway because it we had illnesses on top of illnesses.

Y'all got me googling genetic disorders now! I gotta stop.
