is this really a concern? (mini trampoline in an old house)

I am 170lb. We live in an old house. DH is convinced that if I were to jump on a mini trampoline (rebounder) in the house, the house will fall apart (well, not right away, but it will get loose). When I jump without the trampoline, I can feel my impact, for sure. But wouldn't I feel this way in any house?

Anyone knows anything about this? What kind of impact is okay? I'm dying to use my trampoline again! We used to live in a new rental, and had no concerns about it getting loose The floor shook when I jumped, but somehow we didn't care.

Unless your house is not structural sound, which is should be, I don't think you should have a problem. Most any house is and was built to withstand a lot more than someone jumping on a mini trampoline.

An older house is probably more likely to stay together. They used much thicker wood way back when. If there is a part of the floor that seems a bit too "bouncy", try installing a lally column in the basement under that part of the floor.

I don't do any real jumping in my living room because that side of the house has a 24 inch span between floor joists and I believe now they have to be 12 inch, and when I jump I can feel the floor creek. It freaks ME out. Do you have a basement you can use it in?

If my 100 y/o house didn't fall down from me jumping on the mini-trampoline, I'd say you are safe (at the time I weighed exactly what you do).

However, my left ankle didn't take too well to me coming down onto it completely wrong and I ended up having reconstructive surgery and giving away my mini trampoline
