Hello. I hate my job. How about you? - Page 2

I like my job. I'm working for the Census, and am on my 3rd operation. I'll be working through til the next operation (which starts in July), unless I find a permanent job (public library).

I also like my library job (teen summer programming), which is really fun & interesting.

I too hate my job. I just had my review yesterday and it was all about how unhappy they see I am and not all the dough (in millions) I saved the company this year. I've had a series of issues since returning from materity leave but I can't afford to quit. I think you should just look for another job. Even if you don't leave, at least you are actively trying. That's what my BF's shrink told her when she was going thru the same thing. Take some kind of action.

Yep, mostly I hate my job. I have good pay, good benefits, and ok boss. It's even related to what I went to school for. Unfortunately, I hate the field. I hate what I do (though it's stressful, not boring). I hate that in 2 years I haven't gotten a raise because of "the economy". And I hate that I am the main breadwinner and benefits provider. But I can't figure out what I'd like to do instead. Something artsy or something that actually makes a difference in the world. Both of which would mean a HUGE pay cut eventually. Which would also be fine ... if we hadn't decided to buy a house BEFORE deciding to get pregnant. Oh well. Suck it up I keep telling myself. At least for now.

I was a legal secretary for two years of hell. Worked for a boss who only spoke to me when she absolutely had to, and then it was usually to cut me off mid-sentence and demonstrate how annoying my speaking to her was. I left a month ago after being offered a fantastically paid senior executive assistant job. I should love it - my new boss is amazing, but I feel sick to my stomach most of the time, like I made a big mistake. I think, like many of the PP's, I don't like my field but am paid better than anything else and can't afford to incur debt to reeducate. Sigh.

Thread Starter
A few months after I posted this thread, I'm still here and I still hate my job.

I've managed to get a bunch of things accomplished (got custody, got divorced, paid off some debt, saving up slowly), but even after my consultations with the guidance counsellor, it was obvious that my options are severely limited by a) the province I live in, b) my current circumstance as a single mother, and c) my debt.

I still haven't figured out how to get out of this yucky job rut.
