I'm confused about something.

I love pumpkin seeds with the shell and I was trying to figure the calorie count for them with the shell and this is what the package says:

30g of just the kernals is 160 calories, but 37g with the shell is also 160.

I checked a different bag with a different serving size/calorie count:
45g of just kernals is 280 cals while 63.7 with shells is also 280.

Does it make sense that adding the shell in a larger amount is the same calorie count?
Shouldn't adding the shell reduce the serving size?

Am I missing something? I gotta be missing something blatent...right?
