5/14: okay not a no spend day. I bought a gift at kohl's for dd's friend who is having a party tomorrow and a clearance book to bump the total over $10 to use my $10 coupon. Total was $2.37. Not really a budgeted spend, but worth it and it's a good gift too

Who you are
I'm Shalae, homeschooling mama of 4 children

Where are you going (your financial goals)
I LOVE to shop!!! However, it has put us in a not so good place, esp. since dh work has been slower than it ever has this year. We may end up selling our home on short sale here in IL, and moving out to MA if dh work doesnt pick up. He was offered a job out there. But the kids dont want to move, so I am trying to save money! I dont want to shop and buy anything that I dont need the rest of the month. Over the summer I want to pay dh car off (we owe @ $600). Set up at least $1500 in savings (His car has over 215,000 miles on it, so he will be needing a new one soon- he drives at least 80 miles a day to get to work). I also want to pay off our 3 small cc and cut them up. (We owe under $300 on each).
How do you plan to get there
*No eating out! We like to eat out after church on Saturday nights, and before Karate on Thursdays. I had been doing better with making meals in the crock pot on those busy days, but this month I have been slacking. I need to plan for meals better.
*Stay off the websites that I always "browse on" and then end up buying stuff.
*Keep track of everything that I and dh spend on, like gas, ect.
* Try to put $100 in savings by the end of the month.

I would also like to know how to get my grocery bill lower! We have 4 children and I am trying to stay away from unhealthy over processed junk food, but the healthier food always costs so much more. When I go to the grocery store, I spend over $200 easily. I am starting to bake, for snacks and stuff, instead of buying packaged food. I would love some advice on this area though. Grocery budget for the rest of the month- $275.

5/20- Spent $0

I'm Daytripper75 and I need to be here desperately!

We're in a financial rut and need to stop living paycheck to paycheck.

If I can curb my spending and start saving more I am sure our lives will be much more secure! Most of my fluff spending is for my home, making it home-y. I need to accept that there will always be more things to buy and stop spending on things that are not absolute needs.
