Free formula gift bag with ultrasound?!

IDK if I am allowed to post a link or say the name of the business, but there is an ultrasound place (not a doctor's office, one of those novelty places) in the Detroit metro area that gives a "Free Similac gift bag" with every ultrasound package they offer! WHAT THE HECK?!

I just found this out and I am flabbergasted. If anyone has any ideas for a letter writing campaign, etc please let me know.

Wow, and I thought the German habit of having the protective wrap (for the "Mutterpass" / "mother's passport" where they chart the prenatals) sponsored by formula companies was bad...

You can absolutely name the place and include info on where to send letters!

Many ultrasound places are doing this now from what I was finding when looking for a place to have mine done at last month.

I am composing a letter right now. I think the most important thing I want them to know is that they ABSOLUTELY lost my business over this- DP wanted me to consider having one because my MW doesn't do them and I think he just wants to see the baby , but when I saw that on their package offerings it stopped me cold. Where do they get off offering this stuff to women who haven't even had their babies yet? Not to mention, how long is that stuff supposed to sit around for? Would it even be OK to give it to your baby at 40 weeks or later after getting the samples during Week 18?

Also, their ad copy says "We offer a comfortable, family oriented environment that allows everyone to enjoy a positive bonding experience with the unborn baby." How does offering formula to a woman who might be planning to breastfeed encourage bonding?! I would LOVE to hear what they say to women who refuse the gift bag because they want to nurse...

Not to mention the fact that giving powdered formula to a newborn is potentially dangerous due to the fact it's not sterile.

The u/s place I visited last month, their packs were from Similac and included a HUGE bottle of the premixed stuff (read: $$!). Surprised me to see them giving out the liquid.

Yes, I think it's crappy that these places are trying to start people on formula, but really....using ultrasound for anything other than medical purposes is unethical, anyway. These businesses are there to make money, and that is all. Complaining about their values as a business is sort of like going to Applebee's and complaining about the fat and sodium content of their food.
