I gave birth in our 229sqft apartment and it was fine. The kitchen was the biggest room so we set the pool up there. I never used it - I wedged myself in a corner of our room by the closest and stayed there for the whole labour.

I know this is old, but it was really encouraging to me! I'm not PG or even TTC yet, and we are hoping/planning to move within the next 6-12 months, but A) I wondered how we'd be able to make it work if we were still in this place (600 square feet, 1/3 of it dedicated to my business + 2 pets) and B) though we want 900 square feet+, we might move to a place that's no more than 650-700.

It's never been a question of IF we could make it work, because I'd give birth in a 100 ft place before a hospital, but it was hard to imagine HOW.

My most recent water birth was done in my cramped bedroom - the pool touched a wall on one side and my bed on the other. It was awesome

Our tub was set up in our bathroom, super small. It was fantastic, nonetheless.

I know this isn't waterbirth related but Ina May's books describe all these births in really tiny places. It might be a good read for you.

waterbirthing in small spaces

I've attended many births in water & out in very tiny places, including RVs. As long as I can get to the woman & babe, it works.

Thanks everyone. We ended up not moving and I had my waterbirth in my huge master bedroom like we had originally planned. It was wonderful and I'm really glad I had the ability to close the doors to our room if I wanted (though I don't think we ever did).
