Awesome interaction with a judge ...

I was called up for jury duty this month, and am currently ebfing my 5 month old daughter. There was a spot to request an exemption, so I wrote in my situation. Today, I had to take a letter from Ellie's pediatrician down to the courthouse, and turn it into the jury selection office.

Once I got to the front of the line, I explained why I was there to the clerk, and to the woman who was standing near her. Turns out, the woman just standing around was one of the judges, who gushed on and on about how great it was that we're exclusively breast feeding. She then made sure that everything was in order, and told me not to worry for at least 24 months. Turns out, she didn't wean her kids until they were three.

It was awesome to feel so supported. Yay!

What a great story. It is important to celebrate when nursing is honored and respected. You might consider writing a note thanking her for her support and telling her how much it made your day.

Neat! I've used "breastfeeding and primary caregiver of a toddler" on a jury exemption form before, successfully. No interaction, but I was excused, which is the important thing! Although I'd actually quite enjoy jury duty...
