Bremerton, WA Homebirth Midwife Recs?

It looks more than likely that our family is going to be moving back to the Bremerton area by the end of the summer early fall. I had my son at home in Bremerton but believe my midwife (Teri Doughty) retired shortly after that, so I'm on the lookout for a new one. I'm due November 7th so will probably be close to 26 weeks by the time of the move.

Any recommendations for a midwife in the area would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

I had Teri Doughty as my midwife twice. Yes, sadly, she did retire. Here in Kitsap, several of Teri's past families have been using Mifawnwy Decker Carlson. She's in Olalla and has been a licensed midwife for 30 years.

Her contact number is 253.857.6359

She doesn't catch at the birth centers, though. Just homebirths.

Good luck!

Thanks for the link Kristina, it's very helpful!!

I believe I have met you, I think you were the back up doula for our doula Alisha when we had our daughter Ava.

Yes! That's right, that was me! Give me a ring if I can help you find out more info on some of the midwives that work locally. I'd be happy to help!

Hi there!

I realize this post is a lot later than the rest! However, we are moving to the Bremerton area in the beginning of August and are looking for a midwife for a January 1 due date. If I may ask- who did you end up using? Did you like their services? Any more recent recommendations?

Thanks!

Well don't let the fact that I'm her assistant convince you, but I love Louisa Wales from Gumnut Blossom Midwifery. Also highly recommended- Peggy Thurston and Niki Corragio. Look here for some names: www.peninsulabirthnetwork.org

Hi-

I'm in the Port Orchard area and seeing Nicole (niki) Cor.. (i can never remember how to spell her name) in Gig Harbor.  She's really sweet and very easy going.  :)

There are lots of good choices here in Kitsap, all over, so there are some in North, Central, and South so you have choices.  Which is important to me.
