Nipple Lump, milk trapped under the skin?

Help!
I have had a lump in my nipple ( on the side near the tip) for a few weeks now that has started causing me some pain. I have drained it once with a sterile needle and milk ran out of it. It almost seems like the side that the lump is on isn't draining milk while nursing at all. The skin on that side seems smooth and almost sealed off. The lump appears to be yellow when I move it close to the skin surface. I have tried using a hot compress and tried squeezing that area and pumping to try to drain it but it doesn't budge. My DD doesn't seem phased by it but it really hurts when she is first latching on. Any clue what could be going on? I saw an LC and she seemed clueless. I don't even know what kind of doctor I would go see and without insurance it seems like it would be a huge pain in the rear and waste of money. I've had such a hard road nursing her with my low supply this just really stinks
Thanks for reading!

The LC seemed clueless -was she actually an IBCLC? You have a bleb, a blocked milk duct at the nipple, try the hot compresses again but this time with really really really hot compresses, when I say hot that's what I mean hot enough that it can melt down the milk which is causing the plug but don't burn yourself - lol, honestly that and some good massage should do the trick, the massage - start at the top of the breast just at the armpit and with the palm of you hand massage in firm, gentle circular movements, work your way down to the nipple, do this all around the breast and then get baby to nurse at the breast chin pointing to the area which is affected by the block - you may have to lie down and nurse on the bed in various different positions and angles to work this out. The other thing is rest, really this is just the precursor to being ill so catch it before you really will be quite ill, go to bed with baby and rest, take the telephone, a good book, the tv control, water and snacks and snuggle up with baby and nurse as much as possible stay there for the weekend and get your partner to pamper you - honestly this should then relieve the pain and give you the rest that you need. Hope that this helps and you manage to get rid of this, and maybe up your supply at the same time!! Go to bed for the weekend. I'm sure things will work out - let me know how you get on.

Thanks! I will try heat again and do my best to make Sunday stay at home and nurse day! DD is 8 months old and she doesn't like to stay still very long
The lump doesn't look like your textbook at the surface milk blister. I think since it was much deeper and bigger (size of a pea) in the LC didn't think that's what it was. I don't have the best luck with getting good info from the LCs i've seen (the free ones at the lactation center at the hospital) and can't really afford to search a better one out. I have gotten much better info from forums!
Thanks again

I would imagine that because the plug hasn't been unplugged that's why the 'lump' has developed to the size of a pea, try some massage again maybe in a bath or shower so that the skin is soft and milk isn't too hard and really work at getting this out - or get baby to nurse in the bath with you, hope you had a relaxing Sunday in bed and try for today as well so that you are well rested.
