Thank you for all the support! I finally got up the nerve to talk with dh about it today. We are going to wait for the 18 week ultrasound and assuming that one or both babies are girls dh will break the news to her. Just telling dh how much it upset me and finding out that he agreed was a huge relief!

Heck, I'd go further than that: find out the gender (if you really want to) but don't tell MIL. Tell her you opted not to find out. And then don't tell her the names you have chosen until the babies are born. It's a lot harder to object to a done deal.

Thats wonderful! As long as the two of you back each other up you will be fine. It's hard for mothers to let go of their children and let them make their own choices. Once you get your MIL to understand that she is in your life to stay, but doesn't rule you she will hopefully be a lot easier to get along with.
