Yeah Bronxmom! 50 lb is awesome! Can't wait to get there myself

I didn't have a great week last week. Although I did do a lot of exercise - 4 walks, boot camp and Jillian Michaels DVD 5 times. I did eat a lot of bad things and the return of AF (I'm hoping that explains my weight). This week I am going to try eat better. I'm starting my LO on solids so maybe that will force me to sit down and have food at the table instead of on the run.

I'm still struggling with the whole exercise thing. I feel bad when I leave my LO in the bouncy chair when working out. I think that I am ignoring him. I know that exercise is good for me and he needs a healthy mama but still...

I am going to try and be brave this week and go to the gym. They have day care from 9-12 Monday through Friday. I haven't left LO with strangers yet so I am not sure whether or not I will go.

My friend is also interested in losing weight and she was thinking of joining Weight Watchers. I might check it out as well. Has anyone tried that?

Starting weight: 204.6 lb
April 26: 203.4 lb
May 3: 204.0 lb (up 0.6 lb this week)
total loss: 0.6 lb
Goal #1: 199 by May 31
Goal #2: 194 by June 27
Goal ##: Try-a-tri in August in less than 1:10

Hope everyone has a successful week.

Bronxmom, congratulations on 50!

Welcome to the thread, Damona!

LynnMarie, I hear ya on AF -- it can really throw off my weight. When I first started back in January, I gained 8 pounds in the run-up to the first AF! But then it all came off again. So now I just don't weigh during my AF week (which is why I skipped last week's weigh in).

About which "plan" to follow: I think that Weight Watchers might not work for me, because if I eat carbs I have terrible cravings that make weight loss soooo much more difficult. That's why low-carb is my choice -- it eliminates those cravings for the most part. I am following the primal blueprint and it's working for me. Good luck finding your best path!

I'll be weighing tomorrow morning. See y'all then!

I'd love to join you ladies, but I'm not sure it's gonna go anywhere :P I've been fairly active and my food consumption is still down from pregnancy (nausea still hasn't gone totally away post-partum) but my weight is staying firm at 208. I didn't have this problem with my second son so I'm unsure how to get it to slough off.

Yesterday I got AF and did not sleep well. So, when it was time to get up and leave the house, i was running late and only remembered about check-in an hour after I was gone. Anyhow, I am checking in today instead.

Start Weight, April 13th: 250
Week One, April 19th: 248
Week Two, April 26th: 245
Week Three, May 4th: 242

Change this Week: -3lbs
Total Change: -8lbs

First Goal: 239
Second Goal: 225
Third Goal: 219
Ideal weight is 170-180 lbs.

At this rate, I might meet my first goal after a month of working at it -- which is awesome! That said, next Sunday is Mother's Day and I will likely eat sweets in moderation (which I have done only once in the last 3 weeks). So, dropping 3 pounds agin might not happen, but hopefully by the following week at least!

Anyhow, people have commented on it already. I am doing a lot of sit ups and my belly is looking more flat for sure. Yay!

It's SO SO SO wonderful to see so many people working on this and checking-in here together. You guys rock.

Bronxmom, a big cheer for you on hitting 50 pounds. You are inspiring.

April 20: 214.0

Today (May 5): 214.4

Short-term goal: 210 by June 1
Long-term goal: 199 by Dec. 29

Things are going sloooow. I am lifting heavy free weights, and my muscles are definitely growing. So I think that's slowing things down. I wish I knew my body fat %. My body is changing visually faster than the number on the scale is. My old jeans look ridiculous on me now.

I know I should be patient, but nevertheless, I'm going to tighten up my diet and see if I can get to 210 by June 1. My old goal was 215 by June 1.

I'm going to try a week of calories below 1,700 and carbs below 50. So we'll see what happens!

I am new to the thread. Hi!

Last month, my weight bounced from 290 to 295.

Almost 3 weeks ago, I cut out sugar, grains, legumes, beans. I am following the paleo diet.

This week I am bouncing from 285 to 288. Total loss ~7 pounds.

Check-In Week #23

Starting Weight: 203 from start; 174 from start of challenge
Last week's weight: 152.5
This week's weight: 154
This week's loss/gain: +1.5
Total loss: 49
Goal: 140 or size 6 (now a size 10 - started at size 16)

Bad news - I gained and so can't say I lost 50lbs anymore. But I'm pretty sure some of it's water weight from bad habits last week. I had events literally every night and so drank beer every night and ate out a lot. Still, I know I didn't eat above my maintenance so I think it's mostly bloat. This week I'm back on track and hoping I'll be back down next week. I also assume it's going to get harder as I get closer to goal.

Still trying to get 10,000 steps a day - averaging more. Also, I had been off my lifting routine so rather than trying to jump back into stage 4 of New Rules of Lifting for Women, I decided to just start over and be really consistent. That's really exciting and today I had a great workout. I was able to do 9 real push-ups, which is a big deal because I could barely do 5 off the bench when I started. Now that I'm down to the last 15 lbs, I think the lifting is going to be key for muscle definition and body shaping.

I stopped posting on the other thread a while ago, not sure exactly how many weeks it's been. I kept hovering right around 160ish, my weight loss seemed to have stalled, so it was getting frustrating.

But, since my size 12 jeans are now so loose that I can pull them off and on without unbuttoning them, I decided it was time to get back on the scale.

I'm down to 155.2, and my BMI was at 24.9! Yay! My target is 145 lbs, I started last December, and my starting weight was 185. I had the mirena IUD pulled a couple of weeks ago, and my normal cycles have kicked back in. I suspect that's part of it, since the progesterone can cause weight retention/gain.

Hey bronxmom, I hear ya. I passed my goal weight and then went right back over it. It's part of the frustrating non-linear weight loss that I think women in particular experience. I still say congratulations are in order!

Ravin & FoxintheSnow -- way to go!

Welcome to the thread, geekgolightly!

Ok after today if I don't lose weight doing this, nothing will help!

I'm in the Corrections Academy getting my certificate and we started learning Defensive Tactic today. 4 hours of movement and muscles being used that haven't ever moved! Tomorrow I have it ALL day 8a-5pm (with a few short breaks and a 1 hr lunch)

Hope I can see myself out off the 200s again soon!
Weighed in today and I'm down 1.6!!! I am so happy. I really restrained myself with the snacking and honest journaling and it paid off!!! I am so happy!!!

Hi Ladies, I'd like to join you. This morning my scale hit 190, and I've got to do something. I'm short, only 5 ft tall so my 190 = size 20 pants . I'm a terrible eater and don't exercise. I'm not really sure where to start or what kind of plan to follow, but to get started I'm going to work on adding some exercise to my day and focus on making better choices with my eating.

Ahhhhhh!

Welcome to everyone who is joining up. Hope you are having better success than I.

I'm on week 4 and clearly frustrated. This week was not a good week. Gained again? What the heck?

Starting weight: 204.6 lb
April 26: 203.4 lb
May 3: 204.0 lb
May 10: 204.2lb

change this week: +0.2
total change: -0.4 lb

Goal #1: 199 by May 31
Goal #2: 194 by June 27
Goal ##: Try-a-tri in August in less than 1:10

Hey, Ms. B. Sprout...thanks for the link to primal eating. I have been reading the material and I think I may try that this week. I get the really bad cravings too, so hopefully it will help.

Claybear, hope you make your first goal after only a month. Woo Hoo!

Bronxmom...50 lbs is still 50 lbs even if you did gain a pound back. I think it's still totally awesome.

I'm going to be very vigilant this week about writing down everything I eat. Sometimes I have been guesstimating at the end of the day. Perhaps I am eating more than I thought. I'm also going to make sure I get out and exercise every day. I never did make it to the gym last week. But I did go out for walks and do my DVD workout. This week I'd like to try and exercise every day.

Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day.
