sick & bake sale

I'm supposed to be baking something for a bake sale at my dd's preschool (sale tomorrow, they want treats there today), but I've been sick all week. Honestly, I feel light-headed enough that I'm hesitant to even get in the car to go get ingredients (tempted to not even dirve her to school this afternoon). Should I just apologise and not bring anything? If I was buying goodies from a bake sale, I'd kind of want to assume that they weren't made by a sick person with potential germs all over them. I know that I theoretically could wash my hands well and santize the dickens out of myself (maybe bake something at high temps and try not to handle much)-- but that still seems questionable to me- plus I really just don't feel like dealing with anything at all today. What should I do?

You should take some paracetamol and go to bed.

Bake sales are not life-and-death - you're ill, get well again. This afternoon just say "i've been sick all week and wasn't convinced people would want lurgy-cookies, sorry" and let it go. If they have a problem with that you can rest assured, it is their problem.

Go take care of yourself. Email someone with a head's up that you have been sick.

Or, send someone to a bakery to pick up brownies, cookies, something.

I wouldn't try to bake - go rest.

If you wanted to contribute - offer to pay for something they pick up or need to buy for the sale anyway (napkins, plates, whatever). Sometimes bake sales around us have some fruit or beverages available too - contribute for something like that.

Ask someone else in the family to bake and go to bed.

Just call the bake sale coordinator and tell her you're sick. Shouldn't be a big deal.

I'm the "bake sale lady". We always have plenty and if we don't we limit the kids to one treat each. You really should just head to bed and not worry a minute about it! Feel better.

Don't worry. My experience is that there is always way more stuff than they ever could sell. If you really feel quilty, drop by the bakery and buy something there. The last bake sale I helped out I would say 75% of the stuff was not homemade.
