What do you knit for your DH?

So I've been knitting almost 2 years. I've stuck mostly with scarves, and a few hats, a shawl, that kind of thing. I'd really love to knit something for DH, but he doesn't wear any of those things- not to mention I need to branch out.

So what do you knit those picky DHs?

I don't knit but my mom does and she's made all of us some awesome socks. They are stripy and funky and maybe not appropriate for work, but DH loves them for hanging around the house and wearing to bed. He's jealous that my mom knit me and the kids a second pair but hasn't gotten to him yet.

I knit my 6'2" dh a hat that goes past his butt. He loves it . I'm working on socks next.

i knit hats and scarves--working on combo knit glove/mittens and socks. Also a knit sweater jacket. All outta wool!

Most of my projects have been for the kids, but I did make a hat for DH to wear through the winter that he loved. He had asked me to make him a sweater, and eventually I will, but I have so many other projects to finish first!

I dont have a DH but I have a 9 yr old DS ( will be 10 this fall). My DS is a total blanket thief. I dont knit but I crochet. maybe I dont belong on this thread LOL. So I am always making my son blankets. He loves them, any color, any yarn, any size, he does NOT care. He also loves hats. We live in Phoenix and this boy has must have the thinnest blood ever. I've made him scarves too. I love my knifty knitter set for hats and scarves in a flash LOL. I can't make sweaters, I can't make socks but thats ok... LOL I am secure with my ineptness (sp)

Zebra15, I'm inept too! LOL. But I think I'm willing to give the sweater jacket or socks a try. We'll see if I don't chicken out once I find out what it entails though! LOL. I sewed (not knitted) DH a blanket last year, he thinks its too warm, so I'm not sure I'm willing to put effort into a knitted blanket if he's not going to use it. LOL. But its a great idea.

How about you make something like a lap blanket for the couch? That way its not as labor intensive and if he doesnt like it you can sorta display it and still use it, ya know?

I've been wanting to knit my DH something too but can't figure anything out - he wouldn't wear socks I knit for him, not a hat either... my only other idea that he might use was some sort of iphone or camera soft case or something... ? I dunno. But I'm subbing to see what else people say

i am currently knitting dh a pair of fingerless gloves (knucks) using this pattern. next up will be a hat probably. he's asked me that i knit him a pullover hoodie sweater if i'm feeling ambitious,

i have just started knitting (on a loom), and dp doesn't yet seem impressed....he called my dishcloth "so grandma." then i knit a bag i love but worried because of his reaction to the cloth when i showed it to him, i called it my grandma bag but he did say "Awwww that's cute."
i totally plan to do a sweater coat (for me) on the long loom, zebra. I plan to use wool and make BIG panels and then felt it then cut and serge and sew (i hope that will work).
i just got an idea for my dp, tho...i had made a small rectangular dish cloth (i ran out of plastic yarn and so stopped short). I just decided to fold it together and sew the short ends together to make a ridge for a handle in the middle, and then sew the two layers together to make it more of a sponge, scrubbie than dish cloth....and i noticed how this might fit perfectly over a bar of soap. he also mentioned that he needs new washcloths, although he indicated knit wouldn't be good; he is used to terry washcloths. And my father's day plan (along with a party) is to finally paint the master bathroom with the paint he picked and bought LONG ago. I have a rug on the longest loom that i think will look awesome in there, navy and royal and turquoise (the tile is yellow). I am going to back it with rubber shelf liner; hope that will work! and i wanted to think of some other something to include with that gift (plan to make some aftershave....wanted something like that, for the bathroom). so i think i will buy him several bars of his Iirish Spring he LOVES to use and double knit thickly like a couple little pouches to slip in a bar of soap....and can hang up. hoping this will work and he will like to use them to wash with. how would you make a drawstring for a knit bag? just knit a cord and then weave it around, i guess.
if i knew a way to sew zippers into a double knit bag, i would make him a cool bag to put away capos and tuners and wires....a pile of musical equipment that is sitting out on top of his amp. i bought some blue and brown space dyed acrylic to do this with, but i dont know how i can install a zipper on knitting?

DP doesn't do scarves but I have knit quite a few hats over the years... when he's not literally selling them off his head (well twice that happened with brand new hats, usually folk want dupes).

I am working on a sweater that he is gaga over, I am glad it's warm so he'll stop pestering me for it and want to make his some gloves since he thinks my mittens are silly (although he's worn more than one pair to scrape the ice off his car in the morning).

Oh and he's really into the critters that I crochet. I need to finish the Katamari Damacy prince and get a Sackboy together for him. He has a voodoo doll that I knit hanging in his cubicle at work.

My husband won't wear scarves. I've knitted him winter hats and sweaters. He will wear those!

I've knit dh a set of bike helmet ear protectors, a set of super-heavy duty wool mittens and a convertible hat/balaclava. He runs and bikes to work all year, even in the winter months, so he appreciates anything that keeps him warm.
