I don't think I got the job - update #4

Today I did my usual ritual of checking my email along with the listed postings of open positions at work.

I found out the position I applied for has been taken down and I do not have anything yet in my email inbox yet regarding an interview.

I thought I had a great chance at this position and I need to leave my current one (its toxic to say the least).

I am sad.

Sorry. Chances are, unfortunately, that you didn't get it - but it's still possible. I don't know if it's good or bad to give you a little hope.

I was a hiring manager a couple of years ago, and I can certainly conceive of taking down a listing because I felt I had a huge pool of applicants, but not having enough time to really get to the task of going through them.

If it's a big company with a dedicated HR person or department, then yeah, probably no chance. But if it's a little company where the hiring person also does everything else, they might just be behind and overwhelmed.

If you felt this was a position you really fit, feel free to try to contact the hiring manager about it. You literally have nothing to lose, either they will appreciate the call and consider/reconsider you, or they won't (and if they don't appreciate the call, you weren't on the list anyway).

That would be awesome! Thanks for the GL wishes, I am practicing and brushing up on my interview skills the rest of this week and especially trying to figure out how to address why I am wanting to leave my current position, and seek out this one without spilling the beans my boss creates a toxic work environment, I am not doing the tasks I was hired for, there is no vision for the program and yeah.... all to be more PC and so I don't completely sound like I'm trying to jump ship quickly

Good luck. Personally, I'd play up how the new position would help the company make better use of your skills and is an opportunity for growth and advancement in xyz career field.

Thanks everyone! Just had the interview and I think I did pretty ok. We'll see if I get called back for a second interview.
