What do you get at the Dollar Store?

I recently had a nice moment when I was at CVS about to pay over $7 for bobby pins and hair elastics when I realized I could go to the $ store for them. I also got black wire hanging baskets with that coconut husk--no stupid design, very plain, I was excited! What do you get there? I need more ideas.

pregnancy tests when I needed them
big box of matches
candle holders
spoons, kitchen stuff for dd's little kitchen and for the sandbox

in the 2 small towns closest to me all there is is a Dollar General. Most of the stuff isn't really that much cheaper- it is just convienient to go there... But what is cheaper is candles, pg tests, coloring books, stickers for the kids and a few other weird things.

No comment, I don't have experience about it, how about other members.....

I used to be able to get made in the us plastic bottles for my homemade cleaners.

The only dollar store near me is the Dollar Tree - and I have bought pregnancy tests, mini coke glasses (perfect size for toddlers to drink water and milk out of), measuring cups/spoons, gift wrap/birthday cards, glycerin bar soap, and generic benadryl. I know there is more, and I haven't been in months - but I'm usually surprised by some of the stuff I find there for $1.

picture frames, fake babylegs, child size hangers, birthday party supplies, x-mas wrapping paper, books (my $1 store gets a lot of books), bandaids....

Candles, definitely (unscented). Wrapping paper for kid's birthday parties, when I don't really care about the presentation of the gift that will be ripped apart immediately. Craft paper, scissors, notions to glue onto the crafts. I make our soap and when I can't get the plastic buckets free from the deli, I will buy a new bucket from the dollar store. If I need an aluminum pan to take a food gift to someone, I will buy it there. And then yes, hair bands for dd. Combs for dh to carry in his pocket.

toothpaste
shaving cream
bubble bath
hand soap
kitchen utensils (some of those have lasted forever)
coloring books
wrapping paper, ribbon
goody bag stuff for bdays
seasonal decorations
spray bottles

And those same little Coke glasses drummer's wife got.

Mini hangers for baby clothes
Plastic baskets for organizing
Ikea-ripoff hanging mesh tubes for underwears and socks to go in the closet
gift bags, tissue paper, wrapping paper, etc
blank greeting cards
Kitchen utensils
tin foil
books of crossword puzzles, word searches, etc.
gum

Our local dollar store is actually pretty awesome.

bandaids, occasionally cosmetics (depending on how tight the budget is-- I try to get natural stuff whenever possible, but...), batteries, art supplies for the kiddo, sometimes scrub brushes, things like that.

We have a Dollar Tree...

I get pregnancy tests, coloring books, plastic bins (to store stuff and I also once made DS a water table out of a few plastic bins but I used the wrong glue & it fell apart before he could try it & I needed to put toys in the bins so I didn't get to reglue it ).... books, picture frames for gifts, calendars, I used to get body wash & toothpaste before I started making my own... OH and sun hats, flip flops, toys to decorate birthday cake, party supplies, dog toys... haha I think I could do all my shopping there!! But I am super careful not to buy something that would normally cost 50 cents elsewhere... just cause it's $1 doesn't mean it's a good deal OR that I need it (I have to keep telling myself that lol)

I buy paper goods for parties, gift bags and seasonal decorations. I really dislike the dollar store and typically avoid it.

I bought dish towels there last year and made gift bags/reusable grocery bags for gifts, I wrapped a wedding gift in them last week, cleaning cloths that I put on my swiffer so I don't have to buy disposable ones.....

craft stuff for the kids.

Definitely the pregnancy tests.

ovulation and pregnancy tests, craft stuff, homeschooling supplies (Our dollar tree has an awesome educational supply section), shipping/packing supplies for my Etsy store, socks, cat toys, coloring books, stickers, flower seeds/planters, gardening tools, raisins/nuts/dried fruit, band-aids, nightlights, ear buds, holiday candy....

I really like our Dollar Tree.

books, craft stuff for the kids, certain cleaning supplies. I'll get some foods (our 99 cent only store has produce as well as a refrigerated and frozen section) and body stuff like sunscreen, but I try to stick with brand names so I know what I'm getting. I have gotten a few pregnancy tests there too
