Just finished the book Hex Hall. I am so glad that it's going to be a series. It was like being in Hogwarts all over again. I didn't want the book to end!

A quickie... Ro has chicken pox AND we pulled a tick out of her head this morning.
It wasn't there last night (well, dh did her shower and he said it wasn't) but the abx that would be given to prevent possible lymes disease would make the chicken pox worse. So we're kind of up the creek.
Not to mention a sensory sensitive kiddo with pox is no fun. The itching is bad enough, but she can't stand most of the remedies. Slippery oatmeal water? Goey crusty calomine? Slimy salve (calendula/lavendar/plantain/st john's wort this stuff rocks)? Heck, just getting tylenol in her mouth is hard enough.
And Tor is super fussy so he'll probably be spotty soon too.
Baba Yaga's chicken coop- well, her house has chicken legs, right? So we're moding our coop to look like her hut, complete with chicken legs! And I'll add a skull/bone motif to the fence posts. Eventually I'd like to make skulls to fit over those solar powered lawn lights so that the skulls' eyes will start to glow as the sun goes down.
Bright lords and ladies of light, I'm wiped out. Thank all the powers chicken pox only happens once. knock on wood.

Well, I'm technically not. My DH and I divorced before he died, but they told me at the SSI office that I get benefits, even if we were divorced, because I'm the mother of his child. I'm assuming they are widow's benefits because his first wife didn't get any, just me.
Doesn't it, though? I'm so angry. And what makes me really angry is that they take the gross income, not the net. So the $250 or so per month, that I pay the federal government in the form of taxes, counts as income-- and my ds goes without health insurance
I wouldn't care; I'd pay out of pocket, but he has medicine that he takes every day that he can barely get through a day without
And it'd be HUNDREDS of dollars w/o insurance.
I bet you are wiped, mama! BIG HUGS!!!

Your ds is denied health insurance for $50/month Maia? That sucks, no other word for it!

I talked with DBF a little more last night about the number of children/getting snipped thing. I got the line "its my body" after saying that was something we needed to discuss together and it wasn't fair that he made that decision. I got so angry that I just stopped talking about it mainly cause I had to drive and didn't want to be driving while fighting. *sigh* We kinda randomly talked names over dinner, my sister and my nephew's Dad (sister's ex) are expecting babies this year and I found out the names they are thinking of and was talking to him about it. Kinda just went from there.

Dh is now trying to schedule when the kids have their BMs.
He's tired of them going at night when it's time for bed, saying they're doing it on purpose to not go to sleep. So he's telling them if they don't go in the morning, they have to hold it until they wake up the next morning. Ummmmm..... |

I'm having another half sunday by myself
DH took the boys to swim and left me here again
Going to go make coffee & venture outside... I'll check my psycho tomatos (they are 5inches tall and were covered iin flowers yesterday lol) for flowers to pinch off, maybe walk around the fenceline yanking up the monster weeds and maybe do a bit of cross stitch
And I'll hang out the laundry ... the stuff comes out of the machine just damp so it'll dry in no time
my new washer hehe

DoK-
and Yay for good books. I've been reading too much lately, if there is such a thing.
Clay- Chicken pox are awful. I'm so sorry Ro has them, and hopefully they aren't too bad. Maybe if Tor gets them now he won't has as rough a time with them. I had cp at 14 yo and oh, man it was bad.
ooops gotta go!

Chicken pox - sending good vibes to you and the kids Clay. We went through that last fall... but I joined in the fun with shingles.
(that's also supposed to be a "once in a lifetime" thing... my body sure don't know how to follow that rule cause I had CP twice and Shingles twice now

wombatclay--oof. Poxy spotty kids can't be fun. lots of calming non itchy vibes~~~
And that coop sounds flippin awesome. I would totally put that in my backyard. (must not talk to dh about chickies again!....) Glowing skulls, squee!
Oh, I see. Insurance stuff just is whacked out. I take Singulair and that alone out of pocket is $140 ish, with no generic available. I can't imagine having to take several meds like that, it would bankrupt so many people.
What a great day! Last night Jason and Bodhi went to a block party on his parent's (and my parents) street. I stayed home and tidied up, picked flowers, moved some furniture around and then parked my butt on the couch with the tv and sock knitting. ahhh. I really needed that.
Aeress- I plan on doing as little as possible, and I can't seem to wake up either.
The birthday party at my ex's went great! He wasn't all super nice to me, but he looked me in the eye and actually spoke to me on several occasions which is big. I think he is growing up of course, but I also really adore his gf, and think she is good for him. The kids really like her, and she is kind to me. His ex gf that he was with for most of the time since we divorced was insane! His mom and brother were there, and I hadn't seen them in a while, and several of my friends were there, since their daughters were invited. So I hung out with my hubs, friends, and ex's family a bit. Whew! I feel like their is hope for weddings and graduations.
Today there was another pool invite from friends, but I am feeling like holing up at home a bit. Need to go to the farm for milk, and fill up water bottles, and that just might be enough getting out for me. Jason is working on my car- it keeps over heating. Fingers crossed that it's something simple and easy/cheap to fix!
I've been thinking about the previous post, was it someone looking for a pagan homeschool planner? or just a pagan dayplanner thing. Thinking that could be something that could be made as a pdf and then others could print, right? hm.

Bolded is HUGE red flag. I'd stop talking 'names' etc until he's willing to TALK and hear your side of this issue.. Because it's YOUR body and how many children you MAY have isnt just his decision because it's his penis. He gets to choose how many children HE has.. but you get to choose whether or not those children are had with you.
I AGREE!!! I'm having another half sunday by myself DH took the boys to swim and left me here again Going to go make coffee & venture outside... Massive weed-eating day. Do y'all say weed eater or weed whacker? M thinks "weed eater" is just strange. Maybe it's a north/south thing? I've heard both, here in NC.
Anyway, the weed EATER
is sounding funny after all that work. Sounds like it's slowing down. Maybe it just needs a rest? It's electric.
So now I'm inside having a food break. I SO need a shower! Blech, I feel gross.
Yard sale next weekend. I have to make signs and go post them. Yuck. Out of what? I have no paper or cardboard and it's Sunday. Maybe tomorrow. I think I do have paint.
Next is clearing out the shed. I might sell that, too. It's a Rubbermaid Big Max that I paid $500 for and I'm hoping to get at least $250. I bought it like 7 years ago, and it's still, while dirty, in fantastic shape.
My friend says I ought to convey it with the house, but if I can get money for it ahead of time, I'm going to. I can't depend on if whoever buys the house wants it or not.
Clay, how's your household today?
Shingles-- no guarantee on how many times you can get that. Shingles comes from a virus that you got when you got pox, and it lives in your spinal cord forever, until you get uber-stressed or something, then it comes out. It follows the spinal nerve to whatever area of the body the spinal nerve connects to-- which is why it's always on one side of the body. When it's over, it goes back to the spinal cord and hangs out, till the next time.
I had them when I was pregnant with ds-- how fun. Not!

Miserable pox day... Ro has 20-30 pox in her diaper area. It was a huge battle to get her constipation under control and now her bum is covered in pox and yeah, she isn't interested in all that jazz.
Poor kiddo woke up every 20 minutes or so all night long.
Tor is still fussy but no spots. It may just be his teeth bugging him, or it could be the cream to resolve the impetigo is preventing spots?
We have several families visiting today to share lillopops and breath the sunny viral air. I'm hoping today is Ro's "peak breakout day" and that she wont have more tomorrow... just these blistering/scabbing.

More (((hugs))) and good vibes Clay!
I'm creating my own homeschool planner, in French, with a touch of paganism. I chose to work with OpenOffice instead of Publisher because of the possibility to save it as a PDF... but since I'm still learning to use the program, the work is slower and kind of annoying at times.

I've lost weight. To the point that I'm back into my pre-preg clothing and they're kind of loose.
I hope my midwife doesn't shake her finger at me.

So tired after a parade today. We joined in on marching for a handful of blocks and it wiped me out! When we were done, we went to Starbucks and Roo tripped while clearing his place. His plate went flying and broke and he started screaming that his elbow/arm hurt. I groaned inwardly (not another broken arm!) I asked for ice and, thankfully, he was ok after a few minutes. Phew!
Now he wants to go to a friends house because we've been invited over to watch fireworks. It doesn't start getting dark til after 8 and I just don't know how he'd do staying out so late.
Plus, to be honest, I'm wiped out.
Oh, what to do.
I'm with M. I've never heard of a weed eater.
Sorry she's so miserable. You must be so tired. Hoping she feels better soon.

Thanks all... I'm just wiped out and wonky. I was dreaming last night that I was nursing a flock of chickens, and then there was this strange lucid thing about zombies.
Ro woke every 20 minutes or so all night long, but has been pretty calm today despite the horrible diaper pox. I'm hoping she has hit the peak and will have fewer pox from here on out.
We had a bunch of people over today... and more every day this week. Ro is going to feel like a rock star but I'm going to fall further and further behind on "house stuff" I can tell. We did get some stuff done on the chicken hut, and DH cleaned up outside and did a second pass with the mower. And he trimmed a few trees. It looks nice.

BOO! did that scare away all the negative energy that seems to be lurking? I just spent the last... countless hours? trying to catch up here. Chicken pox, finding jobs, dealing with miserable family and strangers and acquaintances and ex-dhs.... i think that summarizes most of what I read.
I'm envious of the dreams so of you have. I just don't have dreams. Almost never. (But I do wake up to having my toes attacked by kitten. Because the food bowls are empty.)
HEre's a good happy thing I found to share: http://witchininthekitchen.blogspot....itchin-in.html
I finished my homeopathy exam (without finishing all the reading) so I've been focused on finishing the reading. Why do I like to do things backwards?
Got my seedlings into the ground this weekend. Battled majorly with raspberries, Japanese honeysuckle, Parthenocissus (Virginia creeper?), and sassafras saplings. I WAS VICTORIOUS. For now. They'll be back for another battle in a few months.
I have a monstrous huge burdock growing in my herb bed. I had thought about using its roots for a decoction or something.... but then I read that I needed the first year's roots. This one is in its second year. Oops. Oh well... this is turning out to be observations on plant growth and plant form.
Both of our CSAs started and, in addition to the few plants in my garden, I am overwhelmed with lettuce. I wish I could email the excess to all of you. With the heat expected this week, I have got to eat all of our lettuce before it bolts... Did I mention that I'm really not a big fan of salad? So now I'm wondering why I planted 6 different kinds of lettuce. Seemed like a good idea when I got the seeds last year....
So, I've been trying to work on a Book of Seasons or Book of Shadows or whatever (obviously, it hasn't fully taken form yet, so I don't even know quite what will be in the book)... And I've been collecting stuff to stick into it. But I just can't get motivated to actually sit down and work out my thoughts. I get hung up on "do I do it on the computer or off the computer?" "if i do it on the computer, do i print it out or not?" One part of me hates printing things - probably a backlash to all those papers I printed in grad school. But another part of me (the one that printed all those papers in grad school!) still pops out and just loves feeling paper. *sigh* So I get frustrated and then just head back into my studying books.
BTW, I'm reading an excellent book, "Vitalism" by Matthew Wood. Anyone interested in homeopathy, flower essences, and so on... this is the book for you. I'm also reading a book from the 1920s or so, "Orthopathy" that I downloaded (but haven't printed! it's 300 pages!) from the Soil and Health Library. Quite a unique perspective on health and disease... he even disagrees with the principles of homeopathy.
Oh yeah... my high school is celebrating 50 years the first weekend in June. Since we haven't done any reunions, this is serving to be a high school reunion of sorts too. I think I haven't seen my high school classmates in... well... 24 years? So question... an evening that is specified to be cocktails, dinner and dancing (to a roadhouse band, in a not-so-intimate setting for 1600 people)... what would you wear? What would you have your dh wear? I'm not interested so much in impressing, I just don't want to be under-dressed or over-dressed. And the organizers never emailed me back addressing the expected attire. *grumble* So it could be a fun and/or awkward weekend. At least we'll be able to get to the market there and score some awesome summer sausage. And there's a lego store at the market's outlet mall, so that will appease ds. And my parents are tagging along to watch ds while we have our outings... and the hotel has a pool. So even if the events that dh and I attend turn out to be flops, ds will have fun

I am overwhelmed with lettuce. I wish I could email the excess to all of you. With the heat expected this week, I have got to eat all of our lettuce before it bolts... Did I mention that I'm really not a big fan of salad? So now I'm wondering why I planted 6 different kinds of lettuce. Seemed like a good idea when I got the seeds last year.

I'm also not a salad fan. I'm doing collards, kale and other greens this year. At least I can think of dozens of things to do with them. Lettuce - is just lettuce. I suppose its a bias on my part though. I have many people ask what I do with greens.

Massive weed-eating day. Do y'all say weed eater or weed whacker? M thinks "weed eater" is just strange. Maybe it's a north/south thing? I've heard both, here in NC.

How on earth out of all those posts.. do I have no more replies marked? LOL I"m putting it down to exhaustion. It was our homeschool class day today and I was not up for it... then Connor had a toilet accident because he got wrapped up so intently that he put off going wee for a little TOO long. So we had to leave early.. which was honestly fine by me

Had a very nice morning though, chatting with the other mums and such
