AFM: A few people asked when I plan to test. The answer is more or less never, since I expect to get my period on Wednesday.

Escher It *is* a lot of sperm. I find the idea of being full 'o sperm slightly repugnant, actually. I'm no "gold star," trust me--had plenty of sperm encounters way back when (on birth control)--but it has been well over a decade, and I'm no longer such a fan (ok, never was a big fan of the sperm, per se ;-). And I'll be staying with the guy whose swimmers will be oh-so-present in my reproductive tract...I'm worried that the whole thing will feel pressured and awkward and that it won't work, anyway. And will it feel weird to be full of one of my best friend's husband's swimmers?! BUT I'm also incredibly hopeful, so I'll go with that.

CocoSorry about tonight's BFN, but it doesn't mean a thing this early, except that if you DO get a positive, it will be the real thing (not the hcg). Exciting!

My DD got a ZuZu pet, and it is driving me batty. She loves it, though. Sigh.

Oooook, BFN again this morning. I'm not surprised but still a little bummed, I cant help it lol. Our temp didnt rise this morning but remained high and FF declared our chart triphasic, so I guess thats still going in the right direction.

Hey Burg, sorry, I have no idea about the saline... Where didja hear about it ?

As for us, AF is due thursday or friday, our LP is not always the same, usually its 11 or 12 days (and we are at 10 DPO today).

kkearney - glad your sperm challenges got worked out! I've heard the cup and other instruments can interfere, but I've never tried it.

AFM - I'm CD 8 and just chillin. Going to see an RE this week that doesn't treat lesbians like they're automatically infertile!

AmandaHope - Your plan sounds perfect. With all those swimmers, there's no way that egg will escape!

kkearney- Don't you have red hair? I think that would mean if you have a child born with red hair, it could be because of you and have nothing to do with which donor worked. I'm only saying so because we couldn't find a redhead donor we liked, but we're still hoping my red hair prevails!

Coco - Wow, with that chart and those signs, everything is looking very promising!

Korey - So glad you found an RE that doesn't treat you like you're automatically infertile. I'm lucky in that mine feels the same way... especially since the only other RE in town refuses to treat lesbians at all!

AmandaMom: In order for the red hair to prevail, there has to be red hair in the family, as it is double recessive. If your donor is a redhead, you're guaranteed some shade of red, and if your donor has one redheaded parent, you've got a 50/50 shot. Good luck!

I hope you bought your kd some nice magazines or something (hot hot hot Joan from Mad Men is on the cover of Esquire~ that ought to work!) to get that many sperms. I also find the idea of being full of sperm kinda gross, but I just try and focus on 'the one' that's swimming towards my egg and just think about it like that.

I've been reading everyone's postings and there's just so much action going on, I'm afraid to talk about specific people for fear of leaving others out. I promise I'm just scatterbrained lately and have simply overlooked you~ I have only good feelings for everyone on the board.

Newbian~ how's it going? How's the no-charting? I take my temp so regularly now when I wake up in the morning, I wonder what it's going to be like someday if/when I don't have to do it!

Max and Coco~ good luck! It's the tough part now, but there will be news soon and you can either rejoice or continue to move forward. Strength!

AFM~ no news really. Another yellow pill last night, another one tonight and another one tomorrow. I should be Oing sometime next week. Hopefully before we leave for NYC on Saturday 15th! Elsewise these yellow pills are for nothing.

Trying to keep my hopes up, but I just feel weird. I'm also three weeks from the end of the school year, a circumstance guaranteed to make me tired and cranky anyway!

korey - Actually I do still temp, I just write the temps down instead of inputting them into FF. That way I don't obsess over a rise or fall or whatever. I plan to input my temps into FF on the 15th (or their abouts).

Library--Thanks for the tip about Joan on Esquire. I'll buy it for myself, and maybe I'll share it (with DP, KD, etc. ). I'm a Mad Men addict and find Joan irresistible. Luckily, KDs wife (one of my closest friends) will be around, so she can help with the sperm production. I figure I'll take nice LONG walks around town while the two of them do their part...and then come back to the apartment, hand off the swimmers, and then they can take a really nice, long walk to give me some space. They have a small apartment, too! Ugh. I do worry about 3-4 fresh insems, but I've done my online research, and all of the advice (including on FF) to cross-sex couples is to do the deed every day during the fertile window, so I guess I'll follow that plan (minus the deed itself, of course).

I know that the end of the semester can be difficult and crankiness inducing. I'm giving a final to 110 students tonight--GULP--luckily, I have two grad students to help with the grading, but it will still be nuts right up until Sunday, when I leave town for SF. I hope that the end of the term and also your trip keep you distracted and that you have a pleasant surprise in the form of a BFP.

The long walks sound good, and necessary! When some friends of ours were TTC with a KD (13 years ago now) T said she'd go over to the KD's apartment, give him the sterile jar, then go into the living room and WATCH TV REALLY REALLY LOUD until he'd come into the living room and hand off the jar. She'd then lid it, stick it between her ample bosoms and drive it home as fast as she could. Worked for them! They have two lovely kids by this same guy. We have another pair of friends who also have a lovely kid by this guy and we considered him, but didn't want to be part of a big kid thing with our friends, and also my DP is concerned about possible legalities if we try and take the kid out of the country in the future. I wish we had a KD, really, just so we could get fresh rather than frozen (and free! or at least for the price of dinner or a copy of Esquire!). I'm just extra worried about our tiny tiny vial of frozen dudes and how they might not be enough to cut it.


Okay, update: Seriously just as I was typing this, our counsellor came into the library and gave me an invitation to the shower for a 5th grade teacher who's going to have a boy in August. I've been waiting for it, so that wasn't so bad, but then she hung out at my desk for five minutes saying 'And Ms. ___ is just so excited! I mean, she's really getting excited now. She said "In about three months I'm going to be a mommy!" Isn't that wonderful? What a great feeling it is, to know you're going to have a baby. I mean, it's really terriffic and she's just so excited. Because it's so exciting! There's really nothing more fun and exciting than being pregnant." Obviously the counsellor doesn't know about me, or she wouldn't be cruel, but for real, it's like I'm in a movie. Like when I went to my cousin's baby shower and they put us in the nursery to sleep, and I had to step over bassinettes and shove aside giant piles of little dresses and hats to get to the bed.

I wish I had her curves! I've definitely got curves, but they are quite padded these days.... This is one of those queer girl moments when I'm not sure whether I'd rather look *like* her or...be *with* her . I'm really sorry about your surreal "isn't being pregnant just the coolest, most exciting thing in the world" moment. That BLOWS. At least you have the sense of humor to appreciate its absurdity.

I know but I am TERRIBLY afraid of a BFN in the end...... Its impossible not to hope with all that going on... but after all this time, I am just so afraid at the same time, tired of the negatives and the letdown..... gee, what a rollercoaster !

Escher : Keep hoping ! I know you expect AF tomorrow... but your chart looks great and you never know !!! On the other chart that you have on your homepage, your temp went down on 11 DPO, which it didn't today... how is it usually ? Is that different ?

LibraryLady : Sorry about what hapened with your colleague..... isnt that tough... today in the training I was giving (about children exposed to conjugal violence) one of the participants said that he was expecting his first child after 4 years waiting... of course everyone was super-nice about it... I really wanted to sympathize and say I was waiting and all that, which I probably would have felt comfortable doing if I had been straight..... but as a trainer in domestic violence, I am always super-careful when and where I come out for fear of losing my credibility in my field ("Yeah right you say all that but really, you are a man-hater so.......") I've heared it before about others so I am very careful... but it was tough today...

kkearney - Yes, I'm hoping my donor is a carrier of the ginger gene. Supposedly 25% of the US population are carriers (myredhairgene.com), and I'm feelin' lucky.

Library - I wish I could hug you in person! It must have been hard to hear that woman going on about how happy the pregnant teacher must be... Of course she wouldn't have said all that had she known, but we don't want to tell everybody our business. I know you and all those antsy kids are getting anxious about the end of the school year. You can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Hopefully you will get a nice BFP to end the year with a bang! What do you do in the summers? Ahh, I hope you get to just sit on your a$$ and relax for a while.

Newbian Mama - What, you don't like roller coasters? Actually, I think of this ride as more of a "Demon Drop". Anyone every been to Cedar Point? It's just a theme park in Ohio with a ride, the Demon Drop, that takes you up way high and just drops you. I'm sure they have similar rides at other parks. Newbian, hon, I'm hoping it doesn't drop you this time.

escher - I understand why you're envious of my easy access to the beaches and ocean. I lived in Arizona for 11 years and moved here only a year ago. I now feel like I was always meant to live near the ocean. You (and anybody else on this board) always have a place to stay should you happen to be in the area. I mean it! We've got a great guest bedroom that no one's ever slept in!

AmandaHope - Did I mention your plan sounds fantastic? I'm really pulling for you.

Coco - I know it's hard not to fear the BFN's, and it's impossible not to get your hopes up. No matter what happens, we'll be here for you! I'm sending out all kinds of positive thoughts into the universe for you and DP. You've waited long enough!

AFM, no news at 5dpo. I'm hanging in there! This cycle has been much less stressful, now that I've been through it before. Oh, and I've decided to pirate season 1 of Mad Men to see what all the hype is about. Don't call the feds on me!
