Is there any help with this in-person?

I've tried numerous times to set up a budget that we can stick with. DH is less than thrilled with it, because it means less spending for him, and more saving for bills. He gets frustrated, then upset with me because he feels like I'm too controlling or something.

I was wondering if there's something through social services where they help people set up a monthly budget that we can both go to. Maybe if there's a neutral third party to help us, he won't be blaming me and maybe open his eyes to what our situation really is.

Our local Consumer Credit Counseling service does this on a sliding scale with the max fee being $20

Have you had him do the budget? Give him the numbers, the income and the list of set expenses, then the variable expenses, and have him try to work it out? Depending on how he works, he might prefer to work through it with envelopes and monopoly money rather than pen and paper or computer and spreadsheet. Only "rule" is that you can only plan to spend money that you actually have coming in. Maybe he'll see somewhere to cut back that you don't or maybe he'll realize the difficulty you're having and be more understanding.

He won't do it. He has absolutely no clue, and I'd have to hold his hand through it, as I basically would do it myself again.
