Um. How much food is "not much" for a 1 year old? DS3 barely eats any solids yet, prefers to nurse...

Well on a good day. I just now that I fill her straw cup in the morning with water and by the end of the day it's usually empty. We also practice outside with regular cups, she prefers them, she also likes drinking from water bottles.

And Jacqueline good question. I dont know when I see online what a 1 year old should be eating, it makes me run to the fridge and prepare three course meals to Sophia lol

We're lucky on our end if I can get Olive to eat an ounce of cheese, a strawberry and four Cheerios for breakfast! I don't worry too much about it, as long as she's getting a little bit of many different kinds of food, I figure she'll eat more if she's hungry, and she still nurses every couple of hours most of the day and night.

Auraji - Darcy doesn't drink anywhere near 8oz water a day. A couple of sips, less than half an oz. She wees plenty, so I haven't been too concerned. I've also been giving her small amounts of milk or formula for the days I work - pumping is just not possible - and she seems to be doing ok with that. It's only 2 bottles each day, and about 2oz in each one (not much I know, but that's all she'll drink. I think because I'm a low supply mama that she's used to drinking in small, frequent amounts).
Sounds like you had an amazing time in NYC. I can't wait to take Darcy to the zoo - I think she'd love it.

Comtessa - Darcy is a pincher too. While she's nursing, she likes to delve her fingers into my armpits and pinch. If I take her hand away, she gets angry! I've been thinking it's time to start introducing some nursing manners.

Novus - Happy Anniversary!!! Hope you have a great weekend away.

Katie - congrats on your TTC decision. We're technically not preventing, but (1) I haven't had PPAF yet (2) we have his'n'hers fertility problems and (3) we haven't DTD in about 3 months, so I guess that's about a non-TTC as we could get Now that we're in a bigger house, I could definitely forsee us trying for #3, and I'm starting to get all clucky again.

Re: solids, Darcy eats quite a lot, but only from other people's plates She'll eat cereal and scrambled eggs and toast and fruit for breakfast, but only from my plate. For lunch, she'll eat the same as Jambin (3yo DS) which is usually a sandwich of some description. She absolutely refuses to be spoon-fed, so I guess she's not eating huge volumes of food, but a good variety and she's self-regulating her appetite. She's still nursing 10-20 times a day (not joking - she's cut 5 teeth in 2 weeks and has been a boobie fiend!!) and 3 times overnight so I'm not worried about her overall intake.

*sniff*

My AJ is 1 today. I've been a weepy mess all week. We're also taking him for his first haircut this afternoon. I refused until his birthday, and that would be today..But just a trim to keep it out of his eyes..I told Sweetie that I want him to have little BOY hair, not little MAN hair. His hair is gorgeous..So pretty and blonde, and his little curls in the back.

I think Sophia drinks so much water because she likes to copy me when I drink it and I drink a whole lot of water. She always wants some from my cup or bottle whenever I drink. With milk she was curious the first time I gave it to her and now everytime I offer, she takes a sip and then you see it sliding down her mouth.

Happy Bday to all the babies again , JD5 I didnt give Sophia a haircut, her hair is wild, sometimes I think of going in for a trim, but I'm so attached to it.

Another thing do you mamas know of any good multivatim for breasfeeding mothers? I took my prenatals until 6 months after giving birth but I dont have a prescription for them anymore.

Hi mamas! Happy Birthday to the babes I have missed birthdays for - Olivia isn't 1 until the 31st so still a couple days away.

I haven't read all the posts, but in response to water & food - Olivia probably drinks 8 oz of water a day. Maybe more on some days. She seems to love water. I think, as Auraji said, it's because she sees DH and I drink water so much (it's all we drink!) and she likes to copy us. Food - she is offered food for 3 meals and 1-2 snacks per day. She doesn't generally eat much for breakfast and dinner is hit or miss, lunch seems to be her "big" meal. She also goes through phases of what she wants, last week she would eat a whole can of black olives if I let her, the week before that I was chopping up grape tomatoes like they were going out of style! This week she has been into blackberries, and tonight scallops (of all things) she couldn't get enough of. I just try to offer her a variety, and anything we eat she gets to at least try. Sometimes if we have something like steak or pork for dinner (hard for her to chew or handle) I will make her a little pasta or veggies with cheese. She loves food, she can be such a little big girl.

Being rough - she can be. I have to be on top of cutting her nails, otherwise I get all kinds of scratches! She seems to understand when I tell her to be gentle though, because she will change how she is touching something/someone if I tell her to be gentle please.

Having a hard time keeping up with this thread! Not only is DD going a mile a minute, but having DH home more often (while absolutely wonderful) has made life busier! The good news is we have started jogging as a family, and are going to run the next 5k we find in our area. We also have been spending lots of time outside in the garden, which Olivia just loves. She is quite gentle with the plants and has helped me pull weeds a couple times

Hope everyone is doing well, I'll make it a point to check in more! I have been going back and forth between LWAB and Toddlers, such a transition it seems!

Nikita is one on 5/31 too. Olivia (J-p-i's) and she share a birthday. We have her b'day bash tomorrow though so we are scrambling with the last minute preps. I am so excited - hard to believe I have a one year old!

She has suddenly developed mentally too...in the last few days. Little things like understanding which piano knobs to turn and in what order.....riding the Radio Flyer pony by herself.....she seems a bit more grown-up in the last couple of days.

Happy birthday, AJ!

Vitamins - I just take an OTC prenatal and have since I was pregnant with DS.

Starting around 11 months both of my babies have developed an interest in the sippy cup and tend to drink a lot by age one. Laine usually drinks about 8 oz. a day but I don't keep track, I just give her a drink at meals.

My IL's are visiting so I haven't had much time to check in but I'm reading!

Marius has figured out how to get down off of the couch and bed. He's been doing it for a while with the toddler bed but now he does it with my bed too.

Love the pictures! Specially the one with the sun hat. She's so pretty.

Sophia is very rough too, she's always hitting us and she always bites when I'm feeding her. I've tried everything, to stop feeding her, to tell her no very sternly, to make a super sad face, to put her in her crib for a minute or two. Nothing works, she thinks is hilarious and keeps on doing it.

Sophia learned how to get down the stairs on the weekend. She's super good at it too. Her appetite has picked up and she's been eating a lot of beans/chickpeas/ blackberries. Not at the same time though lol, I feel like my supply might have gone down a bit now that I started working out. I'm still eating well though.

Yesterday we didn't do anything special. DP had to work for most of the day and I went to exchange some of Sophia's bday presents. It was fun, I found a cheap wood wagon with blocks and a shape sorter and I exchange her clothes for things I actually like. What's up with people giving your daughter's hoochie mama style of clothes? LOL

ok, just typed a long post and it disappeared - so here's the 2cent version.

Hi all - hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

Thank you to all the military families for keeping us safe! You are often in my prayers.

Olivia took her first steps this weekend. She keeps getting more adorable.

She has two teeth poking through.

Looking forward to a good summer.
