Then I'd just give a lick of kefir off my finger, once a day.

Baby gets probiotics from breastmilk. If on formula, I'd be sure baby is receiving bifidum.

Do you know of a good source of bifidum? I was wanting to steep clear of bottled probiotics. Off to google what foods have bifidum...

I have been googling all morning and can't find anything. I really was hoping to find a food source.

So you are saying that it would be way too much to drink it like you would a glass of soda pop? Can you ever work up to drinking a whole glass?

Pat, if you are only taking a tiny amount, do you flavor it, or just drink it as is, after fermenting for a day?
Cultures for Health (an MDC mama) has kefir grains. Many folks here drink a lot. That is fine, once you work up to it and if it doesn't give you diarrhea. If you have leaky gut/candida/mercury issues, you might not tolerate it as well.

We just take it straight off the spoon, or mix it in juice or smoothies, or yogurt (w/milk kefir).

Again, mine ferments in the refrigerator most of a week, after the initial ferment at room temp.

I have found no foods which have bifidum except breastmilk, and some raw honey does. Milk kefir increases the reproduction of bifidum in the gut, however. http://www.mothering.com/discussions...m#post14971814
