Attention, Fluffy Mommas!

For those of us who are overweight to begin with, do you have any plans for minimizing weight gain and such? Reflecting upon my pregnancies before, I only gained 35 lbs. each time, but my diet really wasn't the best at ALL. So this time I'm considering adopting a sort of GD-type diet to help my metabolism out, as well as doing SOME form of exercise daily, even if it's just walking. I'm a working-full-time-RN, so I'm on my feet all day long, but it's not the same as exercise. Any other thoughts?

I'm in a similar situation, my job keeps me on my feet the whole shift.. and there's walking every hour, but it's not really exercize either. I am GF because i have celiacs, so that actually helped me lose about 30 lbs once I learned that and got on the diet.

I need to just walk and do some yoga. My problem is that I'm reallly tired right now and temporarily working two jobs, so it's all i can do to make sure I get enough sleep!

I don't want to gain more than around 30lbs either. I think that's enough. I plan on limiting my "empty" calories and trying harder to get lots of fresh fruit and veggies each day, and more lean protein and rice. I love a diet like that, but it's convenience/time that often messes me up!

I started my last two pregnancies at 250, with my son I gained 12 lbs total, with my daughter I lost weight and delivered at 238.

This time I started the pregnancy at 200, and I am already up to 205! YIPES! I am trying to increase my activity level and choose better foods, but it is hard when nothing sounds good except the crap.

My goal is to stay under 225 at delivery, it was hard work to loose those 50 lbs, I do not want to gain it all back

I'm here, I'm hoping for a 15-20 pound gain. I just lost 25 pounds and was still losing when I got pregnant. I gained about 40ish pounds my first pregnancy and then with my second, I lost about 15 and then gained 30 so I ended up 15 ahead. So far I am feeling really crappy which means I am not excercising and not eating very well, ie high carb, high fat.

I'm really hoping to get a handle on the ms quickly and getting things back under control.

i am fluffy. However i tend to not gain weight while pregnant. i gain while nursing. i only weigh 5 lbs more, than i did when i got pregnant with my son. I had been on weight watchers and lost almost 20 lbs of my nurisng weight gain, then got pregnant. I was really hoping to lose at least 40-50. Oh well

With my son, i only gained 5 lbs, and he weighed 8. With my daughters i gained 4 lbs, ( 6.5 lbs baby) 8 lbs ( 7.0 lbs baby) and 12 lbs (7.9 lbs baby)

However, i am starving this time, and i am trying to control myself. Since i gain weight while nursing, lose while pregnant, have no idea what will happen if i am nursing while pregnant. LOL

i do walk all the time, and i try to eat well. THough my mexican food, and cheesecake cravings, will not help. LOL

I am craving mexican too, all the live long day. And I have never been this hungry, ever. Ugh. I almost hope there IS two in there to explain why I am so starving and the 5 lb gain at only 6 wks along.

My husband and I have been on the Men's Health Belly Off diet. Trust me, your belly won't budge unless you accompany it with rigorous exercise. However, it has eliminated all pre-packaged foods from our weekly dining and snacking. It's incredibly easy to follow as it is meant for the guys.

It has made our lives so much easier as far as grocery shopping and meal planning goes. You sign up for free online. I have definitely lost bloat! It shows in my face. Internally, I feel so much better, not as gassy or IBS-like as before. Give it a shot.

yes I am. I won't be showing my belly on here cause I look 8 months already. I am only just 9 weeks.

I started at 203 and last time I weighted myself I was 217

but I lost during my last pg. mostly because of the horrable morning sickness that lasted until the day I delived.
I am happy I am able to function this time, and just have "regular morning sickness" but I feel so bloted, everywhere my wobblely double chin, my jiggly thighs. my arms are waving at you!!!

I am able to eat fruit, I can't usally unless pg, so I bought some and some other yummy stuff at the health food store. like granola... umm I am getting hungry here.
i am drinking lots of water but still feeling dehydrated

anyway glad to know I have company

summer rain-got cloth= we had tacos tonight, with beans yummm
rasberry- I will look up the belly fat diet. but I don't want to diet while pg

I'm a fluffy mama. With my last pregnancy I actually lost weight. By the end I had gained seven pounds, but dd was nine pounds.

I don't think I'm really gaining yet either, but I am watching my diet for other reasons. I've had major food aversions already this pregnancy for one thing, and I get nausea so much more easily than last time.

I've been checking my blood pressure and sugar as well. My bp is a little high, but it always is and seems to be steady. My blood sugar is normal. Things are going well!

Another fluffy mama here. I don't stress over weight gain, as I don't gain much anyway. What I do gain is usually swelling-related in my legs & feet.

Exactly.
I lose when pregnant and the baby gains. I tend to weigh the exact same when I deliver as when I got pregnant... but my face always thins out a lot and my thighs get a little smaller. And then when nursing..bam.. it is all back on plus 5.

I think it is a thyroid thing though and I am going to try hard NOT to put it back on after this pregnancy. But I said that after the last one too

I am so glad I am not alone on the gaining while nursing thing! I also have thyroid issues (hypothyroid) and it stays stable through pregnancy and then goes crazy pp and has taken a year each time to get it stable again.

I wish I did the whole not-gaining-weight-in-pregnancy thing. My cousin is very fluffy and she weighted over 20 less at birth than she did when she got pregnant! It was crazy, she ate well and had an almost 10 pound baby.

Alsmere, I'm with you on not gaining it back. Maybe we should have a pp weight support group when the time comes!

Corysmilk, maybe that is my problem.... I was SOSOSOSOS sick with my daughter I just could. not. eat. I survived on oranges and cheese. I feel just as sick, but this time food makes me feel better and I am actually craving things. Today, my new LOVE is Dave's Killer Bread-Good Seed. OMG! Best. Bread. EVER!!
