Bathroom rugs?

Do you have them?

We have a rug in front of the shower, one in front of the door, one in front of the sink, and one in front of the toilet.

Now DH cleaned the bathroom floor yesterday but the rugs are stuck in the giant pile of laundry and I'm kind of liking the bare floors. BUT I'm wondering if the bare tile will show dirt etc. more? I feel like the rugs hide it but the rugs themselves make the room look not as neat 'cause they always shift & rumple up. But we don't have time to sweep daily & we have pets and a messy toddler!

Thinking of just keeping one rug in front of the shower.

Yes we have larger rugs in the bathroom (4x6) mainly because the kids are always spilling water somehow and it keeps it from being too slippery. Our rugs actually make the bath seemed "finished" but they dont rumple up or anything as they are vinyl backed.

We have a long runner-style rug in front of our double vanity, but none in the actual shower/powder room...the kids' smaller bathroom has a small rectangular one - I just like the feel of a rug, as long as they are machine washable (esp with 2 kiddos and 1 on the way to potty train, lol)!

We just use a towel in front of the shower. I don't know why, but I like it that way and don't mind the bare tile for the rest of the bathroom.

we have a bathmat that we hang over the side of the tub when not in use. the rest of the bathroom is just the bare linoleum.

We use a smaller towel, what would be a hand towel I guess. I have a couple of them, so after the kids shower (and leave water on the floor), one of us just uses the towel to do a quick wipe down of the bathroom. We have a small bathroom, so it only takes a minute and keeps the room a lot cleaner with little effort (that's my style of cleaning!).

I like the bathroom rug in the winter because the tile floor is cold. In the summer we take it out cause I actually enjoy the cold floor.

I like the rug, it makes the bathroom look more... inhabited. that said, our cat now eats his raw meat meals and let me tell you, I am so close to moving that rug. It has to be washed super frequently, cause he gets blood all over the floor. It would be much easier to wipe up the tiles when he's done instead (he is supposed to eat on a plate, but he's a cat, and honestly, containing the mess to the bathroom is a victory.) of cleaning the rug often.

We just have one in front of the tub. I don't like stepping on the cold, slippy tile after a bath/shower. We used to keep one in front of the toilet but it always kind of grossed me out & spent more time in the wash than on the floor. At least with the tile I can see that the floor there is clean.

We just have one in front of the bath, but it lives draped over the side of the bath when not in use. If the floor gets wet for whatever reason I can just put it over the top and give it a quick dry and then drape it again until I wash it (it's not really a rug, but more a thickish towel/specific bath mat but still absorbant from underneath). Keeps the floor clean too if the kids have made the floor a bit dirty if they've been in the sandpit etc and I just give it a bit of a wipe.

I also agree with whoever said that the rug makes the bathroom look more . . . inhabited, I believe?

We only have the bath mat, which gets picked up after every shower. Otherwise the cats would sleep on it and it'd be covered in cat fur in a day.

Really, our bathroom is so tiny that having rugs down just makes it seem smaller - even if they do keep my toes warm.

We have one in front of the shower in one of the bathrooms. The other bathroom just has a towel in front of the shower for after showers, but ds1's the only one who uses that shower anyways.

We have a couple of mats (the kind that are basically towels) that we use in front of the tub and the shower. I try to hang them up over the side of the tub and the shower when they're not in use but sometimes I forget. I actually think the bathroom looks sloppier if they're on the floor, but maybe that's because they're more like towels? But I do prefer the bare tile look and honestly, I think bathroom rugs are kind of icky. (It's just something I'm weird about. )

Each of the upstairs bathrooms has one large-ish (appropriate for the space) double-sided 100% cotton rug (reversible).

Each of those bathrooms also have a bathmat of some kind (100% cotton in both bathrooms, but DD's is a small version of the above-mentioned rug and ours is a "bath mat", which is a super thick towel) and both are laid out before the bath or shower and picked up and hung over the side of the tub or shower immediately thereafter (to dry and for aesthetics).

The rugs are easy to vacuum or shake for loose "stuff". All four items can be easily washed and dried.

Hmm I think I will keep the rugs. I do hate cold floors and I hadn't thought of the "slippery" factor (DS likes to empty the dog's water bowl on a regular basis)... We have a large bathroom (well, at least in comparison to the other rooms in the house!) so it does look a little empty without them but maybe I will get rid of a couple & just keep 2 or 3.

just a bathmat that is picked up right after the shower. It is easier to clean the floor if you don't have to move things. Plus bathroom rugs get dirty quick and stay damp if they don't get hung up.

There was carpet in the bathroom when we moved in..wall to wall stinky blue carpet..since we ripped that out we haven'tput a single thing down and I love it

I lived in a house like that once. Just . . . eww, nevermind the fact that I'm allergic to dust and mildew and don't really like carpet all that much anyway.

That being said, when I lived in England I had an amazing bathroom and used an old, old, extremely beat up, but still beautiful persian rug I bought for basically around ten bucks at a flea market in Paris. My bathroom now isn't big enough for it, but when DF and I finally find a place we both agree on, it's totally going back into the rotation.
