Need lots of advice...

Thread Starter
ok so my dd and myself would love to plant a garden, i really wanted to get some vegtables going, but anything to start would be great. problem is, that were we live (florida) , we have no real soil except around the palm trees. our front yard is palms and some plants which i have no idea what they are and mostly concrete patio...., so no room really and when it rains the plants are infested with snails and of course they eat them, our backyard is crushed seashells, gravel and rocks so nowhere to plant back there. We really want to get this going, can anyone give us some advice on what we could do? can we buy a big old window box or something like that?
I am totally new to planting and gardening which is strange because my dad had quite the green thumb... but i never took an interest when growing up, boy did i miss out.
thanks mamas!

You could do a raised bed! I just started a thread about them

For the snails/slugs, shallow pans or lids filled with yeasty, fermented liquids like beer works as a good trap, keep them set out especially at night then in the moring you will find drowned snails/slugs in the lids that you empty. Can also try wrapping the bottom of plants in a copper wire barrier.
