opinions on stick vacuums?

I'd like to start vacuuming our hardwood floors (whole house) more often, but getting out our big canister vac is such a production. It's a great vac (Eureka Oxygen with a HEPA filter, so I'd still like to use it once a week), but I'd love something that is quicker and lighter.

Does anyone have thoughts on stick vacuums, especially cordless ones? As I said, I've got all hardwood, but I also have a dog and 2 cats...

I loved having one when we had all wood floors. Ours had a cord though, but it was still very easy to plug it in and move it around. The floors got vacuumed a lot more often because it was easy. We have two dogs so we had plenty of hair to suck up.

From what I've read the cordless ones often stop holding a charge in not too long, I think a corded model would be more durable.

I recently bought a cordless Shark stick canister vac and I LOVE it. I bought that model mainly b/c it was cute and purple and didn't realize it was cordless. IMO cordless is a plus in that I'm more likely to use it, but a negative in that it def doesn't hold a charge long, and I have to take out the battery and charge it overnight on the counter, slight PIA. But I have a dog, two boys under 5 and a yard with a lot of dirt/leaves/grass, so the Shark is 100x better than having to drag out the Dyson twice a day, which is what I used to do. I would buy a cordless again b/c it's just so easy to use.

Really, I think you'll like whatever you get b/c it's so much handier for the quick clean-ups if your alternative is a heavy vac.

I bought a cheap cordless one and it was a total waste of money. It barely picked up anything without doing several passes. I'm sure there are better ones out there; just be sure to get one with a decent amount of power.

The problem I've had with other cordless vacs is that after a while they really don't hold their charge for long. I don't know if the battery gets worn out or what, maybe it can be changed too. I'd look into reviews as this probably depends on the specific model.
