did a chiropractor help you?

We're having some frustrating issues over here, and the LC suggested a chiro. I've called and made an appt, but I've never been to one before, and I am wondering if it has helped other people around here with similar issues.

DD is 3.5 weeks old and chews on my nipple while nursing. It feels like she's chewing on my nipple until milk comes out and then lapping the milk up with her tongue. Therefore she's keeping her tongue back a lot of the time (she CAN stick it out though, and the LC saw no indication of a tie). She also seems to like to close her mouth the second she gets near my nipple, even if she was going at it with her mouth wide. She prefers my left breast in cross-cradle and my right breast in football hold. The LC also noticed that she tends to favor turning her head to the right and be more reluctant to turn it to the left (torticollis?).

My poor nipples are bruised. She's gained over 2 pounds in 3 weeks, so she's obviously getting enough milk, and therefore I'm guessing she's perfectly happy with the way she's latching... but I'm not!

So, I'd love to hear some good results! I'm frustrated, especially at night when I'm sleepy and my pain tolerance seems to be way lower.

I haven't personally seen one but alot of the moms I work with have seen great results. The key is a good well trained chiro. I'm guessing your LC had someone excellent for you!

Also, I think your timing is great because right now you have abundant milk based on hormones but if she isn't latching and sucking properly your breast won't receive proper stimulation to continue proper milk production.

Oooh, I didn't know that. I figured she was just somehow stimulating things properly. I'm glad I made this appointment.

I think it gets overlooked alot and that is how a good # of moms start supplementing.

Yep, cranio-sacral is practiced by chiros, OTs, etc. OP your dd will probably be receiving cs from the chiro, I'm sure they will talk you through it. Your LC probably just didn't get into the details. Now if it is only adjustments ask about it because cs can really help with palate issues which you may be having based on your description.
