Easiest carrier for back carry with a newborn?

I'm in the process of preparing my house to sell - so decluttering, cleaning, etc... I'm looking for an easy carrier that I can get my 13-ish lb 6 week old (with reasonable head control) on my back so I can carry on doing things while he's awake. Price isn't an overwhelming factor, but cheaper would be ideal...

Soooo, what's good for that?

I'd say a Mei Tai would be good. Less learning curve than a wrap and, depending on which one you get, cheaper than a structure soft carrier.

Personally, I wouldn't feel safe doing a back-carry with a newborn. Newborns need to be watched while they are being worn, especially if they fall asleep, to make sure they don't slide into an unsafe position. But that's just my

I'd probably opt to do a front carry in a stretchy wrap. That way LO is close you, you can keep an eye on him, and you should still be able to pack things up in boxes (although someone else will probably have to carry them out to your car or whatever).

A high back carry with a woven wrap is super safe and secure w/ a newborn. I've been wearing ds on my back since he was 2wo. You just need someone to show/tell you how to do it safely (it is actually safer than a cradle carry, or the evil swing I had with no recline, which caused massive head-droop )

I prefer my woven wrap for a high back carry, but like it's been said there is a learning curve. I do fine with my mei tai and can get him so much higher but this is the 2nd newborn I've back carried so I think that helps.

I'm wanting the beco butterfly II for quick easy back carries.

woven wrap - high back carry is the only thing I'd be comfortable suggesting for a newborn. there are lots of youtube videos of it if you want to see how it's done. In most cultures that babywear, they would think we're kind of crazy for wearing our babies in the front for so long (or at all!) If you want to get stuff done, back carries are really the best. I got good at using reflective surfaces to check on DS when he was back there - car windows, etc...

I bought some fabric and made a woven wrap... I finally got to try getting him in there yesterday and it worked out, but he was more interested in nursing at the time. I'll have to try it out again later.

My friend is also (hopefully) loaning me her mei tai, so I may try that too. Ds2 is pretty big for a newborn and has a lot of head control for his age (nearly 7 weeks) so I may try that, too.

I've been wearing DD2 on my back (high back carry mostly) since she was 4 weeks old. It's perfectly safe.

I prefer a mei-tei for it. I find it easier to get her in nice and secure. I make sure to walk past the mirror in the hall frequently while doing stuff with her back there.

I saw a couple you tube videos on this. If you search for "high back carry" and maybe "newborn" you may find it. I thought it was cool, but I was too afraid to use it, I needed to see her at that age
