DS' 12 lead test was also a venipuncture - DH held him and one tech put the turniquet on as the other was ready to step in and collect the sample. They were an amazing team and obviously had done this many times before! Anyway, it was over very quick and there was minimal screaming involved. If you think of it, I would ask if there is anyone that does most of the child-draws. It is awful to hear little ones scream in pain and fear. Be ready to give lots of hugs and kisses - good luck!

ds has done it 3 times so far, never a peep out of him!
we go to a children's hospital to get it done and they are pediatric trained phelobotemists so they know what they are doing.

ds sits on my lap. I wrap my legs around his legs (for no kicking), I place one hand/arm around his waist, the other arm/hand goes diagnolly across his body and holds his shoulder this way he is restrained in my arms, this is the way the phelbotmeists instructed me to hold him and its been fine each time.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will probably cry myself if she ends up screaming

It shouldn't be too bad. Ask for the best person there and if it takes more than one try let them know you will either 1) go somewhere else that is trained to work with kids or 2) be back when the best person is in.
