Why did I do this to myself? (Just a vent at myself)

So I have a 7 YO DD with a relatively new ADHD diagnosis. (About month 3, I think). But even before it was official, I knew that evenings were hard. I should know better than to put off finishing a major school project with her until 8 PM the night before its due. Really, I should. So why did I do it anyway? Yes, any other time over the weekend would have been inconvenient for me and/or I was tired from too many other projects. But still, just what did I expect at trying to get her focused and engaged in finishing her project board after her meds had clearly worn off and just when she normally gets overly emotional anyway? No wonder we both ended up near tears, angry and frustrated. I could kick myself.

OK, only real question I have -- do I talk to her about it? As in "Hey, I made a mistake in expecting us to be able to work on your project last night".

Totally. "Hey, that was really rough last night finishing that project! Let's come up with a plan so that doesn't happen again." Let her help with the solution as well.

Oh, I don't know....maybe because you're human and not perfect? My oldest is a special needs kid and I have had lots of regrettable moments over the years. It's hard enough just being a parent; dealing with special issues is HARDER!

Yup, and it also gives your daughter examples of empathy and apologizing.
