I use cloth wipes with a wipes warmer and also use baby bits to make my solution.
I also add a few drops of lavender oil to the mixture to help keep it fresh. I only put in a few wipes at a time - maybe 6-8 - so that I know we'll use them up within a day and they won't get funky. When I get down to 1 or 2 left, I add more, making sure to rotate the older ones to the top of the pile. My softest wipes have sherpa on one side and they are definitely softer than sposie wipes!
DD1 was in cloth from birth to potty learning (never used a sposie!
) and I saved all of her stash, so I already have a system in place that works for us. I use mostly fitteds with wool wraps or soakers, but also some prefolds that I just tri-fold (too lazy for snappis - I have a few but never liked them much). DD1 never liked knitted wool except for a couple of covers that I kept so I got rid of the longies I tried with her.
Maybe I'll try again with this babe
We use wool year round too - I just like the natural fibers and am not a fan of PUL even though they do make some incredibly cute and much trimmer diapers with it!
I wash my diapers as a separate load every day or 2 with Country Save and a little Bac-Out. Our water here is very hard so hopefuly we won't have any problems....we were still in the city with softer water when DD was finally done with dipes.
Evangeline is into smalls/infant PFs now though a few of the NBs still fit. I didn't expect such a big baby so I'm glad I at least got to use my adorable NB OV Swaddlebees fitteds for a couple weeks! They were great while her cord stump was attached!
One thing I need to get set up with is a nighttime system in her current size. I have a couple wool soakers, but not the dipes I prefer for this. It took me a while to find something I really liked for night with Amelia, so I only have those in larger sizes.
Ivy - So jealous of your Goodmamas! I may get some (second hand!) for E in a larger size - they look so nice. Some of A's stuff did get pretty worn so I *may* be able to justify adding a bit to my stash
OH and I really want a retractable clothesline too! It is on "the list" but who knows whether we'll get to it this year (I want wood T bars across the yard from each other to attach it to) - the list is long! For now I have 2 wooden drying racks that I use to sun my diapers when I can. They need it now and today would have been perfect but we were too busy this morning for me to get the diapers washed in time!
