VBA2C in Maryland

I am hoping to have a VBA2C in Maryland we're getting ready to move there.

I have the choice of 3 hospital and need to pick which one because it will affect what insurance plan I am on, does anyone know if any of these will do them.

John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

Howard County General Hospital

Bethesda Military Hospital

I don't know about the hospitals there, but the best bet usually for a successful VBA2C is a homebirth. Most hospitals on the East coast won't allow VBACs, and some won't even let you go full term...I do know some hb midwives in MD, or you could check Finding Your Tribe, and ask them...

I can't have a home birth, we are going to be living in military housing and as far as I'm told its a big no no and my insurance won't cover any of it, ugh

You need to check out the Military Moms and your tribal area threads a.s.a.p. They're at the top under Finding Your Tribe, but there's no excuse because I've linked them here for you.

I know there is at least one military mama here who UC'ed on base, so that may be a possibility. I posted a similar question here a while back: VBACs and military hospitals?

Thanks I will look into it, I know the base I'm at now won't let you and if they find out you can lose your base housing, so up there might be different.

You could contact the birth centers in Maryland and see if they'll do a VBAC. Even if they don't, you would probably be better off with one of the birth center providers in a hospital setting than with someone else.

That's a very broad and unsupportable generalization. There are many hospitals on the East Coast that permit VBAC. The problem is most acute in the South and the mountain West, plus small community hospitals anywhere in the country. VBA2C is more difficult everywhere.

I would ask in FYT.

I agree that this is a very generalized statement... Most hospitals will allow a VBAC but many won't do a VBA2C. I live in MD and haven't found one yet that will allow me a TOL. I'm having a HB.
