I'm just wondering if anyone here has issues with soy but is still able to ingest things with soybean oil or the NN supps.
I have either a soy allergy (from skin prick tests a long time ago and current RAST showed slightly elevated) and/or intolerance (delayed reaction during elimination diet).
My understanding is that even if you have issues with soy, you should still be able to ingest soybean oil, as all the soy protein is removed. My ND wanted me to trial just plain soy oil, but it is not sold around here.
I have been taking Nordic Naturals fish oil gels. Sometimes I'm fine and sometimes my stomach feels a bit icky after taking them. I called the company and they said their Vit E is derived from soy, but all protein is taken out. Of course, the label is misleading on their Ultimate Omega because it doesn't specifically say soy.
I try to avoid all soy just in case (including lethicin). Cutting out the soy last year, my seasonal allergies were WAY better and also so far this year not many problems.
So do you think it's safe for me to continue taking the NN fish oil gel? I really hate taking the straight liquid
. I have also had to avoid cooking spray when I can because I haven't found any w/o soy lethicin. I think I had soy lethicin in a smoothie once and it made me sick, but there were also a couple other ingredients in there that I hadn't had before, so it could have been those.
Thanks!
