I also have a bass player in my family. One year I bought him a very nice leather strap. Well, the next year I stole the strap back and made a stencil for a gecko (his favorite animal). I used a tacky temp glue and put it on the strap and spray painted in a metallic silver. So it looked like a gecko was crawling up his shoulder when he played.
Another idea is.. leather bracelets on rock stars is "cool" I got this leather stamping kit for a couple dollars and punched his daughter's name into it. I already had a mallet. That was very easy but I would practice a little first.
One year I decided to make a quilt for an inlaw and ended up spending as much as a real nice one would cost, so that didn't save me much money and I was really pushing and stitching to the last minute. I embroidered all of their names on it also. That was a lot of work.
So this year I am way simplifying and I hope it will be alright. I was planning the day after :P
I went to the store and ornaments were 75% off due to it being like Christmas day or eve or the day after. And I bought a bunch of ornament balls. My plan was to get some glue and simply write their names each on a ball with glitter. I wasn't going to do their names until closer to christmas though in case something happened. Where I hid the ornaments was about 10 feet up above my washer and the cats decided to get clever and knock them all down
So hopefully they are ok. There are still some behind the dryer. *sigh* So that's still my plan for this year. I should go ahead and work on it and get it wrapped up so I don't have to worry about it
I also got a huge train set for 75% off
