The toilet bowl cleaning thread reminded me of a discussion my sister-in-law and I had this weekend. How often does the average person clean their toilets? My sister-in-law insists that she thinks the average is about once a month...I'm not sure I believe that, but I thought I'd ask here!

So, how often do YOU clean your toilets? (Or if you don't do it, how often does it get done at your house?)

Once a week. That's scrubbing, not just wiping off, which I do every day or so.

Once a month?!?!
Mine gets cleaned whenever it looks dirty. Probably once or twice a week since I have 3 kids and their assorted friends using it frequently. I just dump in some baking soda, scrub and flush. I use a bit of TP to wipe the seat and back behind the seat when I do it and usually use a bit of Dr. Bronner's for that since we keep it on the sink for handsoap.
The base and tank get wiped down about twice a month when I do the floor with cleaner (not when the kids swish a towel around the floor to soak up all the water they splashed during their bath).

I know! To be fair to my SIL, she cleans hers more often than that, but she thinks that the average person doesn't.

I am going to be brave and admit it's less than once a month over here.

However, I don't believe this is average at all.

We're lucky, though, the toilet really doesn't look dirty for a long, long time. I really should clean it more often but in our house more than once a week would be major overkill.

Before we had kids, it was closer to once a month.

For our main bathroom (used by the kids) I scrub out the bowl 1-2 times/week. I wipe it down almost every day.

For our master bathroom, I clean (scrub/wipe down) about once a week.

I voted twice a week. It might not be twice in every calendar week but it's about that. I have two little boys, so it's necessary.
When we had two bathrooms, I probably only did the master bath toilet about once a month because only grownups used it and our pee always makes it into the bowl. Also, we never walk off and leave poo sitting in there.

The main bathroom about every 2 weeks (I mean to do it every week but that doesn't usually happen). The second bathroom (not often used) is probably a little less than once a month on average. But then that one almost never looks dirty, just a little dusty. We don't have kiddos though, just us two adults, so the toilets really don't get messy.

The downstairs bathroom - about once a week, but with 4 males, I have to wipe and clean the floor more often. We have really hard well water, and no matter how or what I clean the bowl with - there is a ring and it almost looks dirty. Bugs the heck out of me.

Master bath - probably closer to once every 2 weeks.

Guest bathroom upstairs - rarely - b/c no one goes in there very often. That one would be more like once a month or more frequently if we have out of town guests. When I clean it, it's mostly dusty - and not gross, gross since the toilet hardly gets peed in.

I'd say 2-3 times a month

Usually weekly, unless I notice that it looks particularly grimy.

I'm so excited that I got to choose "between one a week and every other week" now!!!

My 5 yo is finally getting to that stage where he pays more attention to his aim.
He cleans all drip from the rim if he forgets to put it up, but now I only have to clean it all around about once week (longer if I'm being lazy).

It used to be every other day.

I think the longest it's gone it three-ish weeks.

I put once a month, meaning that the outside of the toilet gets wiped down, the area around it swabbed, the tank wiped, and the bowl scrubbed.

The seat and underseat lip and tank lid get wiped 2x/week.

I scrub the inside every week or 2, we let yellow mellow and I think it makes the build up show more. I clean it when I can see it lol.

I wipe the toilet down at least every day sometimes several times a day thanks to ds lol.

I voted once a week, but it's quite often twice a week. But always at least once a week.

About twice a week here, mostly because inevitably when I clean it, someone, um, dirties it right back up. We have a very high-traffic downstairs bathroom and a less-used upstairs, but if I get out the stuff, I usually just do both. Everyone in our house sits to use the toilet, which helps, but friends don't have the same bathroom habits, so after visits with kids, I hit the bathrooms, change out towels and clean toilets and floors.

Since I am not the one who, erm, decorates, the toilet its not my job to clean it, its DHs. Therefore it really only gets done once a month...sometimes less. However when his dad visits I instist on it being cleaned both before and certainly after!

I guess I'll be the gross one here. A- I don't clean it, period. B- it gets cleaned when we''re anticipating company.
