interesting theory from mw about being past due

I keep talking about my new MWs response to my birth story - she just gave me such insight. I'm so blessed by this -

Anyhow, DS was OP, a week late. We transferred to the hospital to a very trusted OB. He felt DS was experiencing too much stress, and I agreed with him for the c-sec.

The MW's theory is that DS probably settled into the OP position weeks before the due date, decided it was nice and comfy, and that contributed to being a week late. Meanwhile, he's adding weight and growing that big head - all leading up to a horrendous labor with his head getting stuck.

Her very good news to me was that having gone to 10 with DS means I'll labor like a second-time vaginal birth mommy. Her words - "nothing was wasted."

I just thought that was so interesting about position affecting the start of labor. Believe me, I'm going to be on hands and knees the whole last month of pregnancy.

I don't agree with your MW's guess about what happened but I do agree that nothing was wasted!

Yes, this is what I say, too.

Um....41 wks is not 'late', particularly not for a first time mom; and some moms always go to 41wks or beyond because 'oven temperatures vary'

Were you induced at 41 wks last time?

Well anyway--no, nothing was wasted, not at all And no 2 pregnancies or births are alike...most likely all will be different next time.

I agree, no two births are alike! However, before you spend morning noon and night on all 4's, some women just have posterior babies. I did the all 4's, no reclining, and had a perfectly positioned baby all the way through pregnancy and most of my labor and then he turned posterior. Just saying..... But goodluck to you! And I do hope your next one stays anterior!

All 3 of mine were OP, DD1 turned during labour (unnecessary induction at 40 weeks), DD2 turned during labour at 43 weeks and DD3 turned during labour at 40 weeks.............. Apparently I am prone to OP babies due to my being extra stretchy because of my EDS.
