iron in water turning whitesn yellow

My whites are turning an ugly yellow from our iron-rich water. I think there's some laundry aid to get the rust out, but I don't remember what it's called and I don't know how safe it is? Does anyone know how to get them white again?

We have to use Super Iron Out sometimes, but it is pretty toxic.

I thought our yellowy whites were from iron also, but it turns out that it was from manganese and not iron. Who knew? We broke down and got a water softner.

We use either Calgon or Clorox 2 or both... more often Clorox 2 because it is cheaper but yeah... Hate hard water.
