I believe there are no in-hospital options for VBA2C in the are.. but I'm bumping this back up for some other people to chime in for you.

There is a doc at Washington Hospital Center who claims to allow TOL. I think Tcabo in Virginia Hospital Center might, but other than that its basically women choosing homebirth midwives who do it or women who stay home as long as possible and go in when pushing and refuse to sign consents. Of those two choices I think the home birth is the way to go!

That is not the case. ICAN is a great resource for these type of searches.

how do you know what hosptial cs rates are? And what resources are on the ICAN website??? I am trying to pick a provider but don't know what questions to ask or who is recommended among providers. I thought the last provider I had was approrpriate for me and was willing to work with my needs and boy was I wrong. I don't want to be wrong again!!

Midwifery Care Associates that deliver at Shady Groves Hospital will take you as a VBA2C as long as you don't have a vertical incision. I just got off the phone with them and was pretty pleased with what the girl was saying. She even offered to fax or mail me their stats on VBAC, VBA2C and c-section rates. From what I've heard Shady Groves is more natural minded and their birthing wing is supposed to be more 'birth center' like than hospital.

I was planning to home birth but finances won't allow it so I have to stay within my insurance choices (I too will have tricare and MCA and Shady Groves is covered but you'll need a referral to see a 'civilian' provider). There are more options than just the ones you listed, you just may have to change the type of tricare you have or get a referral from your military care doctor, which my friend said isn't hard to get.

Good luck!

For anyone who needs it, I am occassionally teaching a VBAC 101 class that is a crash course in everything VBAC. I also teach cesarean prevention but don't get many requests for it.
