Mealtime pottying

I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with a baby who poops every time she sits down to have a meal.
My 10 month old had stomach flu about two weeks ago. Since then, every time we sit down to eat, she ends up pooping half way through the meal. So we quickly pull food out of her hands, take her bib off and rush her to the potty. It's really unpleasant to have to look at poop half way through each meal. Is this a developmental thing that eating triggers need to potty or do you think this has to do with the stomach flu and she might still be recovering from it? Her poop is mostly solid...

Yup, we've been there. (I don't remember if it was every meal every time, but i do recall poops during meals) Their patterns do change. I don't know all the details, but that connection between eating and pooping is the gastro-colic reflex and we all have it.

At least it sounds like you're catching them? Mid-meal pees were a challenge to catch for a long time.

we went through this also and kept a bblp next to the table which made catches more realistic for us. But yeah, looking at (and smelling) poop while eating is grossssss.

Thanks for sharing! it's good to know that it's only a phase. The next question is how long did this phase last for you?

we didn't really have that stage, but I'll use Lina's potty as her chair with her little table when she doesn't want to use the potty before she has her food.

we actually use the toilet...the bumbo toilet trainer has been great for us. I love that I don't have additional messes to clean up.
